Eastern Ceramics, Rare Objects At Sotheby’s Auction
A range of more than 350 Chinese ceramics, along with a selection of other fine art works, will take centre stage at a sale hosted by Sotheby’s London, on 15 May.
The auction will feature an abundance of precious Chinese ceramics and jades, as well as a distinguished group of rare objects with “exceptional provenance”, and works of art from a Far Eastern collection.
“We have carefully curated this sale to offer some of the finest examples of Chinese ceramics and of art currently available to the market,” said Robert Bradlow, director, head of Sotheby’s London fine Chinese ceramics and works of art department.
A number of significantly historical items will be on sale, including a jade Ruyi sceptre from the Qing Dynasty Qianlong period, which is estimated at £200,000 to £300,000 (around $312,000 to $467,000). A pair of intricately designed lime-green famille-rose vases, belonging to a small group of Jiaqing seal mark, and a famille-vert bowl from the Kangxì Yuzhì mark and period, will also be featured at the auction. They are estimated at £200,000 to £300,000 and £150,000 to £200,000, respectively.
Sotheby’s expects to raise in excess of £7.7 million from the auction.
