In a newly-created role, HSBC Private Banking has appointed Victor Wang as EMEA head of Asia coverage and connectivity for Asia to support Asian clients' wealth management needs in EMEA. A 20-year veteran of the bank, Wang (pictured) will be based in London and report to interim head of international, private banking for the UK Shailesh Jaiswal, and Ivan Wong, interim market head for North Asia. He is expected to lead collaboration between Asia and Europe, the Middle East and Africa, working with global relationship managers and a dedicated international connectivity team based in Asia to support Asian wealth management clients in EMEA. Correspondingly, he will also identify opportunities to serve Asian clients living in EMEA locations with their wealth needs in Asia, the bank said. Wang joins from China Global Banking (GB) division, where he was most recently head of the China Desk for the UK, Continental and International Europe. In that role he worked closely with teams in Hong Kong and mainland China, with the goal of opening up or expanding Chinese clients' business access into Europe. Wang was also team head for South China before relocating to London to lead Chinese corporate business in Europe. “Victor’s experience across Asia and Europe will prove invaluable in this newly-created role. Europe represents a key component in the global investment strategy for many Asian clients. Our strength in Asia combined with our global reach means we can offer clients access to key growth markets, investment opportunities and best-in-class expertise as we look to bolster our global connectivity,” Ivan Wong said.
