has appointed James Stewart as a partner within the firm’s?corporate tax and incentives team.

Formerly, Stewart, a corporate tax specialist, was a partner at Sheridans. He is a Chartered Tax Adviser who has advised clients on the tax aspects of a broad spectrum of real estate transactions (both commercial and residential), including direct sales and acquisitions, corporate real estate transactions and real estate finance.

Stewart has M&A tax experience, in particular in the technology sector, including negotiating and drafting all tax aspects of transactional work. He is also experienced in venture capital and structuring-related advice spanning income tax, corporation tax, the stamp tax implications of various structuring matters, and more.

Predominantly, Stewart will work with the firm’s corporate, real estate and private client teams. As well as offering corporate tax advice to new and existing clients, he will explore opportunities for corporate to work with other teams and the firm’s international offices to win new business for the firm.

David Collins, partner, said “his experience advising on corporate real estate transactions, will be invaluable to the team as we continue to build out our transaction capabilities in line with our private capital-led strategy.”

Stewart’s appointment follows two other recent partner hires in the Business Advisory & Transaction Services Division. At the start of September, Ahmad Anani joined as head of capital markets and regulation in Doha, Qatar. In August, Dan Pollard joined as partner in the employment team in London.

Brown Advisory
, an independent and privately held global investment management firm, has appointed Tessa Pilkington to strengthen its international private client portfolio management team.

Pilkington (pictured), a CFA Charterholder, has more than 15 years’ involvement in financial markets with M&A, investment research and multi-asset fund management experience, the firm said in a statement.

Formerly, she was part of a team executing M&A transactions and capital raising to grow the wealth management business at Alti Global (formerly Alvarium Investments). Prior to this, Pilkington held various senior positions at Alvarium Investments, including leading the build-out of the firm’s co-invest platform. She also worked at ACPI Investments as a fund analyst and deputy fund manager on its multi manager balanced product. At Rathbones, she was an investment and equity fund research analyst.

“She has used her skills and understanding of the entrepreneur journey to develop business and grow strategic business lines. This unique and multi-disciplinary skill set will be invaluable to our broad and growing client base at Brown Advisory,” Quintin Ings-Chambers, partner and head of International Private Clients and Charities at Brown Advisory, said.
