Citibank has rolled out a new service giving Citigold private clients in the Asia-Pacific region access to “high-conviction” funds, particularly those funds that had only been previously available to institutions and ultra high net worth clients. By “high conviction”, the firm means those funds that take relatively aggressive bets on stocks and other asset classes. These are typically more volatile, but potentially, more lucrative if particular bets pay off. The new service, initially launched in Singapore, is called the Institutional & High Net Worth Fund Platform. “Leveraging our global platform, we are able to bring these products to our Citigold private clients in Asia for the first time,” said Jonathan Larsen, Asia-Pacific head of consumer banking at Citibank. The products selected for the platform have demonstrated standards of quality in their respective asset classes based on investment process, management and consistency of past performance, both from an absolute measurement and a relative peer-level basis. There are currently 12 funds available to clients, and that is expected to double next year, the bank, part of Citigroup, the US giant, said. Citigold Private Client is a wealth management proposition for high net worth individuals with assets under management of between $1 million and $10 million.
