The new office will be full-service, full-execution, providing Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands advise across the firm's core practice areas, including hedge and mutual funds, private equity, asset and structured finance, corporate law and trusts for high net worth clients. 

It will be led by funds partner Nick Harrold, who is joined by James Burch, corporate finance partner, and Tom Katsaros, private equity and corporate lawyer. Both Harrold and Burch relocate from the Hong Kong office, while Katsaros rejoins the company having previously worked at the Cayman Islands office. 

"This move affirms our long-term commitment to our South East Asia clients. There are relatively few law firms practising Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands law in Singapore and our new office will not only provide clients with greater choice but enable us to better service them," said Harrold.

Maples and Calder has been operating in Hong Kong since 1995 and is currently staffed with 30 lawyers.
