Northern Trust Expands Global Family Offices Team In London

, the Chicago-headquartered banking group, is expanding its global family offices team in London with two new appointments.
John Elder has been appointed to the newly-created role of managing director and senior investment advisor, multi-manager solutions. Elder will advise family offices and related family foundations on the creation, implementation and oversight of complex investment programs and solutions.
Jonathan Lidster has been hired as a senior wealth strategist responsible for developing and deepening relationships with both existing and prospective clients, as well as increasing the awareness of Northern Trust's specialist wealth management solutions across EMEA.
Before joining, Elder advised on and implemented business strategy, governance and best practices for family offices and institutional investors and has also served as a non-executive director on the boards of various investment funds. During his career, he has worked at Mellon Family Office Services and Ernst & Young Investment Consulting.
Lidster was previously an independent advisor to a single family office in London, and prior to this a co-founder and former chief operating officer of Global Partnership Family Offices, a London-based peer-to-peer networking forum for family offices.
Northern Trust's global family and private investment offices group is a boutique practice within Northern Trust's Wealth Management business which currently works with 400 families across the globe, with average assets per family under custody in excess of $715 million.
