UK private bank Brown Shipley has hired John Williams as private client divisional director to spearhead a major expansion plan for 2008; he was previously head of UK private banking at Coutts. Mr Williams’s brief includes establishing new client teams to grow further the Kredietbank Luxembourg subsidiary’s client base across the UK, in London, Manchester and Leeds. He has already recruited the first additional team for London: Guy Ward, David Greenyer and Simon Whittley have all been appointed private client senior managers. Mr Ward and Mr Greenyer were previously branch managers with advisors and brokers Killik & Co, Mr Whittley was a vice president of private banking with Credit Suisse. Mr Williams said: “The new teams for Brown Shipley, in the north and south alike, will be primarily hand-picked with a number of individuals moving from stockbroking into private banking, and will all be qualified investment managers. I am confident the second additional London team will be in place before Christmas and one in Manchester during the first quarter of 2008.” Ian Sackfield, Brown Shipley’s head of investment management, said: “John’s appointment and the decision to recruit a number of additional teams shows real commitment from KBL to both Brown Shipley and the UK private banking market.”
