Atlantic Trust Brings In Trust Specialist In NY

Atlantic Trust has expanded its US wealth operations with the appointment of Paulina Mejia as managing director and senior wealth strategist for the New York office.
Mejia brings 10 years of trusts and estates practice and advisory experience to her new role, having specialized in high net worth clients and tax-exempt institutions. Her background includes roles as a wealth planner for Brown Brothers Harriman and a lawyer at Carter Ledyard & Milburn in New York. She also serves on several boards and committees related to trusts, estates and taxation.
As part of the wealth strategies team, Mejia will help build client relationships with law firms in New York that may consider Atlantic Trust as a potential trustee and wealth manager for their clients.
"Access is critical. Having someone in-office, whether to review an estate plan with an existing client or to discuss tax planning alternatives with a prospective client, will further strengthen our client service efforts in New York and across our firm," said Linda Beerman, chief fiduciary officer and head of the wealth strategies group.
New York is the second largest office of Atlantic Trust with $3.6 billion in assets under management as of 30 June 2011. Across the country, Atlantic Trust records $17.7 billion in AuM.
