Avaloq Appoints Deputy CEO

The wealth technology firm has appointed a deputy CEO and new group chief markets officer.
Wealth technology firm Avaloq has appointed Jürg
Hunziker as group chief markets officer and deputy chief
executive. The former SunGard executive will join the
Switzerland-headquartered firm on 1 June.
Hunziker has more than 30 years of experience. Previously, he
spent 27 years at US-based technology firm SunGard, founding
SunGard Europe. Most recently, he acted as SunGard’s group
president for the global trading, risk and private banking
software and services business.
“His market knowledge and understanding will help Avaloq to
further capitalise on the opportunities offered by the ongoing
transformation and digitalisation of the financial market,”
Francisco Fernandez, CEO of the Avaloq group, said in a
statement.
Avaloq’s current group CMO, Peter Schöpfer, will support Hunziker
to ensure he settles into the new role. Schöpfer will continue to
be a member of the group executive board and board of directors
of the Avaloq group.
Asked about the role of deputy chief executive, the firm told
this news service: “Before now there have been internal
processes in place to ensure the role is supported. However, this
is the first time the role has been formally announced.”
Hunziker holds a degree in economics and banking from Zurich
Business School and attended senior management education
programmes at both the University of Zurich and Stanford
University. He started his career in the banking industry at UBS.
