Bank Internasional Indonesia Names New President Director

Bank Internasional Indonesiathe wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia's Maybank Group, has named a new president director.

Taswin Zakaria, an independent member of the Board of Commissioner of BII since 2004, assumes his new position pending regulatory approvals. In the meantime, Thila Nadason, finance director, continues her appointed role as officer-in-charge.

The former head, Khairussaleh Ramli, resigned in early September citing "personal reasons" although various media reports say that he may be moving to RHB Capital to assume a deputy chief executive post.

Zakaria is also an independent member of the board of PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta, a subsidiary of SATS Singapore. Prior to that, he was president director of PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance and also worked for Barclays Bank, Deutsche Bank and Citibank.

In a statement, Megat Zaharuddin, chairman of Maybank, said that the appointment reflects the company's commitment to grow in Indonesia, where it currently has investment banking and asset management businesses.
