Barclays Signs Big Deal With Solium For Employee Rewards Push

Barclays’ Corporate & Employer Solutions unit has entered an agreement with Solium Capital to create a white-label version of the Solium Shareworks platform and administration services for its clients.

The while-label version of Solium Shareworks is part of Barclays’ Corporate & Employer Solutions arm’s global stock and reward offering. Through it, Barclays will be able to provide a fully integrated and globally-administered platform with the aim of helping clients to recruit, retain and reward employees, the firm said in a statement.

In a convincing vote of confidence, the wider Barclays Group has also adopted the platform for the administration of its own global equity and long-term incentive plans, with the Corporate & Employer Solutions unit acting as administrator. The Corporate & Employer Solutions has started providing administration and brokerage services to Barclays’ discretionary share and cash plans (these have over 8,500 participants).

Barclays is aggressively going after the employee rewards sector in both the UK and internationally in the belief that these have historically been under-serviced. Recent months have seen Barclays make a string of appointments to this business and September saw the hire of four new employee benefits consultants.

The firm has also been adding to the corporate wealth advisory team within the Corporate & Employer Solutions unit, hiring in the same month James Wood and Liam Fearon as corporate wealth advisors. Wood, who is now based in Ipswich, was latterly a commercial financial planning advisor at HSBC. Fearon, who is now based in Birmingham, joins from RBS, where he had specialised in corporate financial planning.
