Barclays Wealth Launches New Structured Product For The "Adventurous" Investor

Barclays Wealth has launched a five-year structured product offering twice the rise of the FTSE 100 index up to a maximum of 50 per cent – a new offering that the firm says is aimed at “adventurous growth seekers.”
The Barclays Wealth Superstriker Plan includes a feature intended to address market timing and so, according to the firm, it provides investors with a more advantageous entry point to market. As such, the initial index level is measured as either the lowest closing level of the FTSE 100 on any of the first seven monthly observations, or 75 per cent of the closing level of the Index based on the first observation date, whichever is greater.
“The general uncertainty around short-term market direction has led many investors to question whether now is the right time to invest given the possibility of further market falls. Superstriker aims to address the concern of market timing with the benefit of hindsight. By observing the index over the first six months of the term, investors can benefit from a more advantageous entry point for investment should the market fall,” said Richard Henry, director at Barclays Wealth.
Investors’ capital is at risk if the FTSE 100 falls below its initial level at any time during the term of the investment and is below this level at maturity. In this case, capital is lost on a 1:1 basis with the index.
