Barclays Wealth Teams Up With Top UK Orchestra

Barclays Wealth, in partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, is to create a new youth choir dedicated to encouraging a love of singing among teenage boys.

Uniquely, the choir will only recruit boys between the age of 13 and 18 at a time when voice-breaking limits the opportunities to sing in either boys’ or adult choirs.  The CBSO believe the choir is the first of its kind in the UK that will aim to develop their performance skills and confidence levels as they enter their teenage years.

Andrew Houston, regional director of Barclays Wealth in the Midland and the north of England, said: “At Barclays Wealth we support activity in our local communities which helps to empower young people to develop the confidence and skills they will need in order to be successful in their future professional life. This is a really interesting example of that, and we are delighted to be a part of driving it forwards. That we can do this in a fun and innovative way is all the more rewarding.”

This move comes as Barclays Wealth in Birmingham announces its continued commitment to the CBSO through community support totalling £80,000 (about $150,000) over the next three years.
