Barings Loses UK Sales Director

Baring Asset Management’s director of UK sales resigns

Baring Asset Management director of UK sales, Ian Furtado, has resigned. Mr Furtado, who reported to head of UK sales Jerry Devlin, had been with Barings for 23 years in various roles. He is understood to be joining emerging market specialist BDT Investment Management. Mr Furtado’s departure move marks another blow for Barings after recently losing six members of its private client arm, including its director of multi-manager investment Sam Jeffries, to investment boutique Sarasin Chiswell. The group has also been struggling to increase its assets under management, which have been around the £20 billion mark for a decade. BDT Invest is an investment boutique with offices in London and Tokyo, specialising in equity investment within Asia, Japan and Emerging Markets. Total assets under management are $957 million in a variety of strategies from long-only relative return through to long/short absolute return.
