Citibank has appointed Gary Reiner, operating partner at General Atlantic, and James Turley, former chairman and chief executive at Ernst & Young, as independent board directors.

Reiner has been the operating partner of General Atlantic since 2010, before which he was the senior vice president and chief information officer of General Electric Company - a position he held since 1996. Prior to General Electric, Reiner was a partner at The Boston Consulting Group.

Turley led Ernst & Young, which last week announced EY as its new global brand name, from 2001 until his recent retirement. After joining the firm in 1977, he was made deputy chairman in 2000, and named chairman in 2001.
