Deutsche Hires New Head To Deal With Shipping Clients

Deutsche Bank has hired Klaus Stoltenberg as the firm’s global head of shipping, based in Hamburg.

Frankfurt-headquartered Deutsche Bank has hired Klaus Stoltenberg as the firm’s global head of shipping. In his new role, Stoltenberg will be responsible for coordinating all Deutsche Bank activities with shipping industry clients, in addition to managing the coverage team.

Based in Hamburg, Stoltenberg will report to Raj Bhattacharyya, head of capital markets and treasury solutions for Western Europe, and Armin von Falkenhayn, co-head of corporate banking & securities for Germany. He joins the firm on 15 April 2014.

“With this appointment, we continue our commitment to this sector, offering best in class services to small and medium maritime enterprises and major international ship owners and operators,” said Bhattacharyya.

Stoltenberg brings significant industry expertise with over 15 years in shipping and project finance. Most recently he served as the global head of ship and aircraft finance at the German landesbank, NORD/LB.

In related news, Deutsche has recently made a raft of hires across its country offices and units, including a new head of research at its wealth and asset management arm. Read more on that story here.
