Diary: 100 Women In Hedge Funds Group Raises $51,000 For Charity
A group representing women in the global hedge fund sector has taken time out from chasing returns to give almost $51,000 to a project helping young woman and single mothers in economic difficulty.
A global organisation of women in the hedge fund industry has
raised €48,000 (about $50,970) for a project aimed at helping
girls and single mothers in economic difficulty - another example
of how figures in the sector are trying to break down the
male-dominated image of modern finance.
The 100 Women In Hedge Funds group raised the money for EDU Care,
a project developed by Fondazione Zanetti Onlus (FZO) and SOS
Villaggi dei Bambini Onlus.
The gala event’s special guest was Alena Seredova, ambassador of
SOS Villaggi dei Bambini Onlus. The Duo Ferrandino-Guidi, an
ensemble of chamber music formed by the pianist Sara Ferrandino
and the mezzo-soprano Virginia Guidi, opened the gala with a
programme dedicated to female composers.
Later in the evening, guests were entertained with a live
auction by Christie's Renato Pennisi, senior specialist in
Post-War and Contemporary Art.
During its 14 years in existence, 100 Women in Hedge Funds has
helped more than 13,000 professionals, and raised more than $38
million for philanthropy.
