Expansion-Minded Progeny Names Chief Financial Officer
The business has acquired almost 30 businesses, such as tax and financial advisors and accountancy firms, in recent years.
UK-based Progeny, a
wealth, financial planning and advisory firm that has carried out
a string of M&A deals, has appointed Tom Wood as chief
financial officer.
Wood brings 25 years’ experience in the financial services and
banking sector to the role.
Previously, Wood was chief restructuring and financial officer of
the Co-operative Bank, having co-advised on its third
recapitalisation. Before this, he was CEO and chief financial
officer of Shawbrook Group, where he led the business through its
initial public offering and entry into the FTSE 250. Wood is also
an advisor, investor and independent non-executive director.
The firm dates back to 1981. Following a management buyout
in 2008, and a rebrand, the Progeny name entered the field in
2014, and officially launched as a firm under that name –
spanning a variety of sectors – in 2016. It has acquired almost
30 firms in recent years, most recently Manchester-based
Chartered Wealth Management in late January 2024.
