Investec Asset Management Hires From Schroders For CTO Role

The asset management arm of London- and Johannesburg-listed Investec Group has appointed a new technology chief.

Investec Asset Management has hired Matthew Oakeley from Schroders to fill the newly-created position of chief technology officer.

Oakeley joins from his position as head of group information technology at Schroders. He brings 25 years' experience in managing technological innovation within the financial services and asset management industry.

Based in London, Oakeley has been tasked with further developing the firm’s technology platform under the leadership of its chief operating officer, Kim McFarland.

The hire from Schroders follows that of Justin Simler as investment director in London. He joined from Schroder Investment Management back in June.

As of the end of June, Investec Asset Management managed around $118 billion of assets worldwide.
