JP Morgan AM Launches iPhone, iPad Apps for Advisors, Investment Managers
JP Morgan Asset Management has launched new iPhone and iPad apps aimed specifically at advisors and investment managers, adding to the growing use of mobile technology within the financial services industry.
This app, called On-The-Go, targets the more mobile and tech-savvy audience within asset management, a trend that JP Morgan is not alone in pursuing.
“The new app provides quick, one-stop access to information on all of JP Morgan Asset Management's European-domiciled funds across the entire JP Morgan Asset Management investment range, including OEICs, investment trusts and SICAVs,” said Ben Larter, media relations.
“It allows professional investors to access historical prices, interactive factsheets, performance charts, market and investment insights and videos. The app also lets users create a favourites list to keep a close eye on the performance of their frequently-accessed funds, as well as allowing them to store their favourite documents, insights and multimedia so they can access them on the move,” he said.
Available in six different languages, the app has six key features: insights, multimedia, fund explorer, documents, favourites, and settings. Users will also be able to choose between advisor and asset manager channels.
"We are always looking for creative solutions for our professional clients. This app gives users another way to gain access to our investment insights and obtain information about their funds, while also helping our sales force access information when they are away from the office,” said Roger Thompson, head of JP Morgan Asset Management’s UK business.
This is not the first mobile application from JP Morgan, in fact it is their fourth iPhone app and their fifth iPad app. Ratings for the On-The-Go app are currently unavailable, but other apps have mixed reviews. Looking at the iPad apps, Research has a three out of five star rating with 21 out of 53 reviews giving the app the lowest rating, one star; Mobile has a two and a half out of five star rating with 68 out of 140 ratings giving one-star ratings. The other two iPad apps have four out of five star ratings, better, but it should also be noted that they have fewer than ten ratings overall.
According to this publication’s checks on the various app markets, On-The-Go is not available for the Android or Blackberry platforms, despite the Android platform currently having the largest global market share for smartphones. The firm told this publication that they do not plan to release an app for other platforms yet, but are however considering this option. A spokesperson said JP Morgan Asset Management has its European website optimised for mobile viewing and that this is available on all platforms.
With the new app’s release should come a reminder of the security issues that increased mobile banking brings. New mobile freedom brings new avenues for outside parties to access secure information, something those considering using the app will have to take into account.
On-The-Go is currently available from the iTunes App Store and the JP Morgan Asset Management website.
