The UK investment manager has made a senior hire from Standard Life and welcomed back a familiar face.

Kames Capital has appointed David Ennett from Standard Life as head of high yield, while Phil Milburn has returned to the company as head of fixed income investment strategy after a period of ill health.

Ennett joins from Standard Life Investments where he was head of European high yield and manager of the SLI Higher Income and European High Yield Funds.

Ennett and Milburn will co-manage the Kames High Yield Bond and the Kames High Yield Global Bond funds, with Milburn leading the former and Ennett the latter. Stephen Baines will remain support manager on both funds.

They will both report to Kames’ head of fixed income, David Roberts, who has been running the high yield portfolios on an interim basis with Baines.

“We will now have two of the UK’s leading high yield specialists working together to further strengthen our award-winning high yield franchise,” said Roberts.

“David is very experienced in the high yield market and shares the same investment philosophy as us at Kames Capital, while Phil is now refreshed and eager to get back into running funds.”

From Edinburgh and London, Kames managed £50.1 billion ($66.3 billion) of assets as at the end of June 2016.
