The UK branch of Netherlands-based Kempen Capital Management has named a new fiduciary boss in London.

Kempen Fiduciary Management has hired Johan Cras as managing director in London.

He will take on his new role in March following Remco van Eeuwijk’s departure from the firm for a senior management role at an institutional investment firm in Canada.

Cras joins from Achmea Investment Management, where he was a member of the executive committee with responsibility for the fiduciary management business. He was previously chief executive for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Russell Investments.

In his new role, Cras will head the fiduciary management team in London.

“He brings a wealth of asset management, fiduciary management and UK experience. Johan will contribute considerably to delivering high level services to our clients and to growing the business in the UK,” said Paul Gerla, CEO of Kempen Capital Management.

“At the same time I want to thank Remco for his contribution to transitioning the UK fiduciary management business to Kempen Capital Management and for building a successful business in the UK.”

The hires comes at a period of significant activity in the fiduciary sector. In January, the investment group that agreed to acquire a majority ownership stake in Barclays' fiduciary and trust business completed the deal, creating a business under the name of ZEDRA. And this week, managing director Mike Good led a management buyout at Richmond Fiduciary Group, the Guersey-based provider of fiduciary services including professional trust and company formation and management.
