London Wealth Manager Hires Business Development Boss, Targets US Expats

MASECO Private Wealth, the London-based wealth manager that advises US citizens living in the UK, has hired Maria Chapman as head of business development.

Chapman was latterly head of private banking relationships and a board member at the ECU Group, the currency management firm. She has also worked for wealth manager Kleinwort Benson, now part of RHJ International.

In a nutshell, MASECO looks at investment vehicles that are compliant with regulation in both the US and the UK, as US citizens in the UK have to file tax returns in both countries. This is believed to become even more relevant next year, when the HMRC is looking to introduce stricter rules for so-called "non-doms" in the shape of a statutory residence test.
