Martin Currie Appoints Country Head For US Office

UK-based equity manager Martin Currie has named Ranjit Sufi as country head for its US office, with effect from May 31.

Sufi joins the firm's New York office as executive vice president of sales and client service, charged with leading business development in the US and Canada.

Previously, Sufi worked as managing director at Tradewinds Global Investors, an affiliate of Nuveen Investments. Before that, he worked for nine years at Nicholas Applegate Capital Management, where he led the global sales team and was a member of the company’s executive committee.

Prior to Nicholas Applegate, he spent almost four years as a principal at Barclays Global Investors.

Martin Currie also recently strengthened its US team with the addition of Mel Bucher as senior vice president of US sales and client service.
