Mirabaud to Sponsor Major Sailing Event

Mirabaud is to become the main sponsor of the largest European freshwater regatta.

Swiss private bank Mirabaud is to become the main sponsor of the largest European freshwater regatta for six years starting June 2007. The event now known as the Bol d’Or Mirabaud is held on Lac Leman (Lake Geneva). Around six hundred sailing boats compete on a course from Geneva to Le Bouveret at the other end of the lake and then back to Geneva. The regatta brings together the world’s leading sailors, from Ernesto Bertarelli and Russell Coutts to Loïc Peyron and Ellen MacArthur. Mirabaud charters three “surprise” yachts in the Bol d’Or. Management and staff make up three teams and train all year round to take part in this event. Mirabaud is also the main sponsor of the British Olympic women’s sailing crew (Yngling class) made up of Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson. Sarah Ayton and Sarah Webb won Olympic gold in their class in Athens in 2004 and are now training for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. The bank is able to live out its passion for sailing with the recently acquired the "Mirabaud", a former Open 60 racing yacht with an impressive track record. This vessel, crewed by the Yngling Girls, will participate in the Cowes Week 2007 regatta. Mirabaud & Cie, private bankers was founded in Geneva in 1819. Originally a bank operating solely in Switzerland, Mirabaud has since developed its brand on three continents working out of nine offices. The bank employs a staff of 410 and has assets under management of SFr22 billion.
