Morningstar taps president for Investment Services

Mutual-fund researcher' veteran staffer Kapoor takes over from Lutschaunig. Chicago-based Morningstar has named Kunal Kapoor as president of Morningstar Investment Services, the investment-research firm's RIA. He has replaced Art Lutschaunig, who has left the company.

Morningstar declined to say why Lutschaunig left or where he went.

"Kunal is an outstanding leader who brings a unique set of skills to our investment services unit," says Morningstar's CEO Joe Mansueto. "[His] investment knowledge, business development experience, and leadership qualities make him an excellent choice for this important job."

Kapoor had been director of business strategy for Morningstar's international operations. He began his career with Morningstar in 1997, first as a data analyst then as a mutual-fund analyst. He has also worked as a research analyst at Morningstar Investment Services.

Kapoor, who edits the publication Morningstar Mutual Funds, played a role in Morningstar's acquisitions of Standard & Poor's mutual-fund data division and Aspect Huntley in Australia.

Morningstar Investment Services, a fee-based asset-management program that includes a series of mutual fund and ETF portfolios, managed $1.9 billion on 31 March 2007. -FWR
