Schroders Singapore Takes 25 Per Cent Stake In Indian Asset Manager

Schroders Singapore, the wholly-owned subsidiary of UK asset management firm Schroders, has acquired a 25 per cent stake in an Indian firm.

Axis Bank, the Indian private sector bank, has sold one-fourth of its stake in Axis Asset Management Company for an undisclosed amount.

Through the purchase, Axis AMC gains access to Schroders' global distribution network, as well as the ability to advise overseas funds involved in Indian securities. In the long term, Axis will also get the opportunity to distribute Schroders' funds in India through its local network.

Schroders has over US$305.1 billion in investments under management worldwide as of 30 June 2012.
