Skandia Makes Senior Hire Targeting UK Customer Propositions

Skandia, part of Old Mutual Wealth, has appointed Tom Hawkins the newly-created role of head of UK proposition marketing.

Skandia, part of Old Mutual Wealth, has appointed Tom Hawkins as the newly-created role of head of UK proposition marketing.

Hawkins will be responsible for the development and marketing of Skandia’s customer proposition in the UK, covering platform, pensions and investment solutions, the firm said in a statement.

Skandia said the role has been created to enable to it to focus on its UK and international customer propositions.

Previously, Phil Oxenham headed up both the UK and international marketing teams and will now focus solely on the development and marketing of Skandia’s international proposition.

Hawkins has been at Skandia for 15 years and previously led the strategy and research team. Prior to that he had roles within the sales team and marketing development.

London and Johannesburg-listed bank and asset manager Old Mutual said in March that it was selling Skandia Germany and Skandia Austria to a Cinven and Hannover Re acquisition vehicle for €220 million ($302.7 million) as part of it plans simplify its operations in Europe and focus on a select number of core growth markets.

Old Mutual also recently confirmed that vice chairman Peter Mann will retire to pursue new challenges outside of the company. Mann will stay with the business until the mid-year to ensure a smooth handover of his responsibilities.
