Standard Chartered Names New Information Chief For CPBB Arm

The new CIO has responsibility for business segments including StanChart's private bank.

Standard Chartered has appointed Anshu Sharma Raja as chief information officer for the consumer, private and business banking arm.

Sharma will be based in Singapore, reporting to group chief information officer Michael Gorriz from 1 August, subject to regulatory approval, the Hong Kong/UK-listed banking group said.

The bank said that Paul Macpherson, who has served as CIO for the CPBB business since 2018, is leaving to pursue opportunities outside the bank.

Sharma joined the bank in September 2018. In her role as global head, retail banking products technology, she has led and modernised the bank’s digital platform for individual and business banking clients.

“Our ambitious growth plans for our affluent, mass and wealth management business rely on a modern, cloud-based architecture that delivers superior client products and experiences digitally. With her considerable proven strengths as a trusted partner to business, her strong client focus, leadership and technical expertise, Anshu is well placed to drive and deliver the digital agenda which is the foundation of our strategy,” Gorriz said.
