UK Firm That Aids US Expat Investors Brings In Major Recruit

A firm which specialises in serving US expats so they can cope with financial and investment affairs in a chilly post-FATCA world has recruited a senior figure from a Canadian bank in London.

MASECO Private Wealth, a UK-headquartered firm which has made service of expat US persons a speciality business line, has appointed a former top executive from Royal Bank of Canada.

George King IV has joined the firm as a partner, and he will concentrate on developing relationships and managing assets for private clients, trusts and charities.

Previously, King was head of portfolio strategy at RBC in London; he has also held various positions at Barclays, Credit Suisse and Alliance Bernstein in the UK and the US.

“MASECO is well known in the market as being a preferred wealth manager for US-taxpayer investors and the robust investment platform also provides a compelling set of solutions for other resident non-domicile and British clients,” King said.

Josh Matthews, managing partner, said King’s experience as an expat US person will help boost MASECO’s focus on this area of serving US-taxpayer investors.

A number of firms such as MASECO and London & Capital have sought to make a point of continuing to serve expat Americans who have struggled to find banks willing to serve them following introduction of onerous new rules under the US FATCA legislation.
