What’s New In Investments, Funds? – AllianceBernstein, Capital Group

The latest news in investment offerings, financial products and other services relative to wealth advisors and their clients.

AllianceBernstein
AllianceBernstein LPA, which has $726 billion in assets under management, has launched two new funds. The AB European Growth Portfolio and the AB Global Growth Portfolio.

They will be managed by portfolio manager Thorsten Winkelmann and his team: Robert Hofmann, Marcus Morris-Eyton, Darina Valkova and Nicolas Gonçalves, all of whom joined AB in January 2024 from Allianz Global Investors.

The team seeks to benefit from the compounding power of owning shares in structurally growing, high quality companies over the long term. Its philosophy and process, which will be the same across the two funds, is rooted in bottom-up fundamental analysis with a focus on understanding company business models and growth drivers. The funds will invest in companies with clear sustainable competitive advantages, pricing power and high barriers to entry.

The AB European Growth Portfolio is an unconstrained high conviction bottom-up portfolio of approximately 40 to 60 mid/large market capitalisation companies. The AB Global Growth Portfolio is an unconstrained high conviction bottom-up portfolio of approximately 50 to 80 mid/large market capitalisation companies. They will both be classed as Article 8 funds.

“We have a time-tested philosophy and approach. As a team we have spent most of our careers on these strategies and have proven success in these strategies over time. I believe they complement the current range of AB strategies,” Winkelmann said.

Capital Group
Capital Group, a global active asset manager, with assets under management of more than $2.5 trillion, has just launched three global, multi-thematic sustainable funds designed to meet demand from investors in Europe and Asia.

The Luxembourg-domiciled UCITS funds include a global equity fund – Capital Group Sustainable Global Opportunities Fund (LUX), a fixed income fund – Capital Group Sustainable Global Corporate Bond Fund (LUX), and a multi-asset fund – Capital Group Sustainable Global Balanced Fund (LUX).

In building its sustainable funds, the firm identified seven sustainable investment themes aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) which capture a large universe of companies that can offer compelling long-term investment opportunities. The funds are classified as Article 8 under the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation.

“We believe our global, multi-thematic approach to constructing these funds broadens and deepens the investment opportunity set for investors. The three funds, in core asset classes, respond to the evolving needs of our clients in Europe and Asia, and gives them a clear proposition to consider in sustainable investing,” Guy Henriques, president of Europe and Asia client group, Capital Group, said.

Capital Group added that its sustainable investing capabilities draw on its deep, fundamental research, leveraging a global team of more than 470 investment professionals and more than 40 ESG specialists, including data scientists and technology specialists.
