William Blair has made a senior private wealth hire in Chicago, recruiting from Credit Suisse.

William Blair, a global investment banking and asset management firm, has brought in Lawrence Gilbert as a vice president and financial advisor in Chicago, IL, focused on business owners, high net worth families and private foundations.

Gilbert has more than 24 years of experience in financial services and joins William Blair from Credit Suisse, where he was a private banking director. Before that, he worked at HighTower Advisors and at Goldman Sachs in the firms' private wealth management divisions.

Before his time in private wealth sector, Gilbert worked for eight years as a professional market maker on the Chicago Board Options Exchange, trading a portfolio of index and equity-based options and futures.

Earlier this year, William Blair hired Barbara Cummings, Robert Kjellman, and Carl Young, along with investment resource associate Karen Eames and sales assistant Gillian Koch, within its private wealth management team in Boston, MA. See that story here.
