The Edinburgh-based investment management partnership Baillie Gifford has announced that it will appoint three new partners on 1 May 2007. With two retirements this will take the number of partners to 30. Lynn Dewar joined the firm in 1992 and is a director in the institutional clients department where she has responsibility for UK clients. Scott Nisbet joined the firm in 1996 and works in the same department where he has responsibility for North American and Australian clients. A spokesman told WealthBriefing that the new head of that department will be Robin Menzies after the retirement of John Carson. Hamish Dingwall joined the firm in 1994 and is a fund manager. He contributes to both Japanese equity and global equity portfolios. The head of his department is Sarah Whitley . The firm also announced the forthcoming retirements, in April 2007, of two long-serving partners, Mr Carson and Ross Lidstone, also currently in the institutional clients department. Baillie Gifford manages or advises on assets for its clients of over £48 billion ($93 billion). The firm states that 2006 saw “healthy inflows of new business and awards of additional funds from existing clients, particularly for global equity and fixed interest mandates”. The spokesman also emphasised that the firm’s investment policies and other strategies remained unchanged, in particular that of recruiting principally at graduate level.
