CIMB Malaysia Names Consumer Banking Chief

CIMB Group Holdings, the Malaysian financial group, has appointed a new chief for its Asian businesses.

Starting 2 April 2012, Renzo Christopher Viegas will take the role of group deputy chief executive and head of consumer banking for CIMB Bank, the firm's banking subsidiary. He will also assume the position of executive director of CIMB Bank upon obtaining regulatory approvals.

Viegas was previously the deputy chief executive for retail and international at RHB Bank. He joined RHB as director for retail banking in 2008 where he managed the consumer, insurance, hire purchase and SME businesses. At CIMB Bank, he will be heading the Malaysia consumer banking arm while providing oversight for the Singapore and Cambodia markets. 

CIMB is one of the largest financial services firms in Malaysia with operations in eight out of 10 ASEAN member countries. Beyond ASEAN, the company has a presence in China, Hong Kong, Bahrain, India, Sri Lanka, the US and UK. It records RM55.3 billion ($18 billion) in market capitalisation as of 31 December 2011.
