Credit Suisse Taps Citigroup For Sponsor Director Asia

Credit Suisse has appointed Ben Ngai as a director in the Asia ex-Japan Sponsor Coverage team, with a particular focus on China. Mr Ngai will be based in Hong Kong and will report to Matt Whineray, head of Sponsor Coverage Asia ex-Japan, and Zhang Liping, Chairman and head of China Investment Banking. Mr Ngai has substantial experience in coverage and execution spanning a variety of industry sectors and products. He returns to Credit Suisse from Citigroup Asia, where he was a director in the Financial Entrepreneurs Group. He has also worked at ABN Amro as a director in Corporate Finance, after spending some time as an Investment Banking Associate at Credit Suisse. Credit Suisse's Sponsor Coverage team is a leading player in the region as it is globally, with roles in recent landmark transactions such as KKR's $713 million LBO of MMI in Singapore and Indochina Capital's $455 million IPO on the London Stock Exchange. "Ben's appointment drives us forward in this important space. His unique experience across asset and industry classes, and in China gives us an added dimension in providing advice to our clients in the region, especially with growing private equity activity in Asia," said Mr Whineray.
