FWA Preps External CIO Survey

The Family Wealth Alliance is planning a new survey that will conduct research on firms providing external chief investment officer services to family offices.

“Single-family offices have been turning to external CIOs in increasing numbers recently, and we wanted to find out more about them and how they are used,” Robert Casey, senior managing director for research, told Family Wealth Report.

“In our last two single-family office studies, for example, more than one in three participating firms reported using external CIOs. This is concentrated among smaller single-family offices, but some larger ones hire them as well,” he added.

The results of the first annual external CIO survey will be unveiled at FWA’s annual spring event and will be the third in a series produced by the organization.

FWA recently presented the results of its third annual SFO and seventh annual multi-family office surveys at its annual Fall Forum.
