Cube Capital, the $1.3 billion global alternative investment firm, has hired Shailen Modi as its new chief operating officer, he having previously worked at Fauchier Partners, a fund- of-hedge-funds business.

The previous COO was Steve Kirk, who was with Cube for six years.

Modi will be responsible for Cube’s worldwide operations, finance, and technology functions, as well as being a member of the firm’s risk committee. He is a UK-qualified accountant with more than 20 years’ experience in operational and financial roles. He will assume the role on 1 August.

The business employs 54 people, with offices in London, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Moscow and Kiev. Its activities are spread across three principal platforms: multi-manager hedge funds, single-strategy hedge funds and real estate.
