Law firm Venable hires HNW specialists Hoeg, Hughes

Established trusts and estates attorneys join firm's office in N. Virginia. Trust and estate attorneys Everett Hoeg and Lisa Hughes have joined Venable's office in Tysons Corner, Va. The two had worked together for about 15 years as Reed Smith, another big law firm.
"While we have significant experience working for corporations, partnerships, and limited liability entities, we have always thrived on our work for individual clients," says Hoeg, who joins Venable as a partner after 30 years with Reed Smith and its predecessor firms. "Venable maintains a renowned wealth-management practice."
Hughes, who joins Venable as an "of counsel" -- a weird bit of U.S. legalese that can mean any number of things, including a kind of junior partner -- adds that she and Hoeg will advise multi-generational high-net-worth families as well as business owners and professionals in the process of founding legacies.
Venables partner Stefan Tucker says that Hoeg and Hughes "are adept at handling the full range of complex tax issues, [and they] understand the personal life issues of affluent clients."
Adds Tucker: "There is a substantial client base still to be tapped in the mid-Atlantic region, where both Everett and Lisa have so much experience -- we're certain they will thrive here at Venable."
