Major Trust, Fiduciary Hire At Standard Chartered Private Bank

Mark Jackman, the former head of Asia at Rothschild Private Banking & Trust, has joined Standard Chartered Private Bank as head of its global trust and fiduciary business.
Based in Singapore, in his new role Mr Jackman will be responsible for Standard Chartered Private Bank’s trust companies in the Cayman Islands and Guernsey, and will also manage fiduciary specialists in a number of private banking locations worldwide. Reporting to Gary Tiernan, global head of relationship management, investment advisory and fiduciary, Mr Jackman is charged with developing the bank’s trust strategy, including driving its expansion plans into other locations.
Prior to joining Rothschild Private Banking & Trust in April 2008 as head of Asia, Mr Jackman was a managing director of Credit Suisse’s trust group in Singapore. He has also worked for RBS Coutts and for Bankers Trust Company as head of its Jersey-based international trust division.
“Trust and fiduciary services are an integral part of our platform and Mark’s appointment will help us to continue to raise the bar in our provision of high quality solutions for our clients. Mark’s experience in establishing and expanding trust companies will be invaluable as we advance our own offering,” said Mr Tiernan.
In a separate comment, Peter Flavel, global head of the private bank at Standard Chartered, said: “Estate planning is a core banking service for our clients and so we are excited that Mark has joined us to oversee this part of our offering. The Standard Chartered Private Bank has a proven capability in fiduciary and we see huge growth potential in this part of our business.”
In other recent hires, last month Standard Chartered Private Bank appointed Richard Howarth as market leader, Africa. Mr Howarth, whose departure from his position as director and regional market leader for Africa at Barclays Wealth emerged in October last year, is now focused on developing and expanding Standard Chartered's private client business in Africa, working closely with the bank's network businesses across the continent.
