Morgan Stanley Appoints India Country Head and CEO

Morgan Stanley has announced the appointment of P Jayendra Nayak as chief executive officer and country head for India.

Mr Nayak, presently an operating partner at Advent International Private Equity, will assume his new position starting 5 April, the bank said in a statement. In addition to Advent, he is a non-executive chairman at Motilal Oswal Asset Management Co. Prior to that, he spent almost 10 years serving executive roles at Axis Bank until he resigned in April last year.

He will be based in Mumbai.

The appointment comes as foreign banks are stepping up their presence in the South Asian country hoping to tap its robust capital market and high net worth numbers.
