New York’s Signature Bank has appointed Barbara von Borstel, a private banker specialising in the theatre and entertainment sectors, as group director and senior vice president.

Throughout her career, Ms von Borstel has focused on providing banking services to the Broadway theatre community - including theatre owners, business managers, productions and actors – across New York, London and Los Angeles. Her experience also extends to serving musicians, professional athletes and other high net worth individuals, Signature Bank said in a statement.

Ms von Borstel most recently spent six years as a relationship banker at New York’s TD Bank, formerly known as Commerce Bank. Prior to this she was with JP Morgan for 17 years, where she created and managed a private banking business targeting the entertainment sector.

In her new role Ms von Borstel will be based at Signature Bank’s private client banking office in Manhattan, joining the banking team led by Tom Kasulka.

"While Signature Bank has established a reputation within the entertainment industry, Barbara brings a whole new dimension to our efforts in serving this area based on her decades of experience in catering to the Broadway community,” said Joseph DePaolo, president and chief executive officer at Signature Bank.

Established in 2001, Signature Bank now has $7.43 billion in assets and 22 private client offices located in the New York Metropolitan area.
