SG Private Banking has signed a three-year sponsorship contract with Argentine golfer, Angel Cabrera. Angel Cabrera, 38, who was ranked number 15 in the world in 2007, was recently elected "Sportsman of the Year" in Argentina after winning the US Open, one of the world’s four major professional golf tournaments. The private bank sponsors a number of top-flight golfers, such as the French player Christian Cevaër, “best putter” of the European Tour (2004 – 2005). Société Générale, the private bank’s parent, has been the Official Partner of the French Golf Federation since 2001. Starting this year, it will be a sponsor of the Evian Masters tournament, one of the major women’s golf events. It has also been the official partner of the French Open, a tournament on the European Tour, since 2004.
