Summary Of Executive Moves In Global Wealth Management - March 2018

March was a busy month for moves in the global wealth management industry. Here is a summary of moves and hires in Asia, the Americas, Europe, and other parts of the globe.
European, international and other moves
Trust Corporation International appointed Catja Carrell as legal officer. She is based in Guernsey. Carrell works with teams in the UK and US dedicated to developing the firm’s US offering. Carrell was at law firm Butler Snow as a tax associate and focused largely on advising on US federal tax rules with respect to income, estate and gift tax issues.
Man Group appointed Simon Finch as chief investment officer of credit at Man GLG, its discretionary investment management engine. In this newly-created role, Finch is responsible for Man GLG’s credit business and will have oversight of the credit portfolio management teams. He reports to Teun Johnston, chief executive of Man GLG, and will work closely with Man GLG’s CIO Pierre-Henri Flamand and Man Group’s CIO Sandy Rattray. Finch has 25 years of experience in credit investing and joins Man GLG from CQS, where he was CIO and ran the firm’s multi-asset credit fund. He joined CQS in 2004.
The Coutts banker, Keith Keogh, who was punished for sexual harassment claims, resigned from the UK firm. It was reported that Keogh and a number of colleagues had been investigated by senior managers in 2015 over claims of inappropriate conduct including lewd comments, heavy drinking and unwanted physical contact with female colleagues. Keogh was disciplined by the bank, such as withholding a bonus, issuing a written warning and assigning a coach. It was reported that Keogh denied allegations of inappropriate behaviour and accepted disciplinary action without admitting those allegations. Keogh had been MD at Coutts since January 2010; prior to this, he was MD, private banking, RBS, from January 1999.
UK-headquartered PM+M, the chartered accountancy, business advisory and wealth management firm, has appointed Tara Maynard as a financial advisor. She will be responsible for providing independent financial advice to her clients, specialising in pensions and investments. Maynard previously worked at Pierce and True Chartered Financial Planners in Bury.
Independent service provider JTC made two appointments in the US and UK for its global institutional client services team. Based in Miami and New York primarily, Wouter Plantenga joined as head of group client services within JTC’s ICS division, whilst Jonathan Jennings joined as managing director – UK, based in London.
In his new role, Plantenga leads JTC’s expansion in the ICS arena. He has nearly 20 years’ experience, the majority of this time being in the US, in cross-border and transatlantic financial services with knowledge of the North American market. He previously was MD of Intertrust United States, where he worked for five years. Jennings took on responsibility for generating new UK institutional business. He has worked in financial services for more than 20 years, such as dealing with cross-border corporate activity from the Channel Islands, Luxembourg and London. Prior to joining JTC, Jennings was group CEO of Dominion Fiduciary in Jersey, and has previously held a range of senior roles at a number of firms, including MD of TMF’s Luxembourg business.
BNP Paribas appointed Vikas Jaidka as the new head of Non-Resident Indian (NRI) clients. Based in Singapore, reporting into Samir Bimal, head of Indian markets, Jaidka leads the NRI teams in Hong Kong and Singapore. Jaidka replaced Masroor Batin who moved to take on new responsibilities at the WM Middle East and Africa market. Prior to joining BNP Paribas Wealth Management, Jaidka held senior positions at Citibank and was responsible for establishing and developing the bank’s NRI business across Asia-Pacific as well as in the UK, the United Arab Emirates and Africa.
International law firm Clifford Chance appointed Charles Adams as new regional managing partner for continental Europe, succeeding Yves Wehrli. Adams’ four year term will begin 1 April. He was the office managing partner for Clifford Chance's Italian practice, with offices in Milan and Rome, and was a continental European partner representative on the firm's former management committee from 2013 until 2014. He returned to Milan in January, having spent over two years based in the firm's New York office, to help with the growth of its Americas practice.
Adams remains co-head of the firm's Italian finance and capital markets group, and continues to be actively involved in client-facing work from Milan. Wehrli, who had completed the maximum number of terms he could serve representing the region, continues in his current position as office managing partner for the firm's Paris office.
State Street Global Advisors appointed Kathleen Gallagher as head of exchange-traded funds model portfolios for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Asia-Pacific. Reporting to Rory Tobin, global head of SPDR ETFs and based in London, Gallagher oversees State Street Global Advisors’ multi-asset class investment operation. Prior to joining SSGA, Gallagher spent five years consulting at various financial firms with a focus on multi asset class investments including BlackRock and Barclays Global Investors.
Standard Life Investments fund manager Jonathan Gibbs left the firm after 16 years. Gibbs managed the Absolute Return Government Bond fund alongside Shayne Dunlap before its closure. He started his career in 1998 as a dealer for the Bank of England, before becoming an investment at the Kuwait Investment Office in 1992. He moved to Henderson in 1994 and spent eight years there as a portfolio manager before moving to Standard Life in 2002.
Nordea appointed Paul Bari as group chief information officer and head of group technology. He reports to Torsten Hagen Jørgensen, deputy chief executive and head of group corporate centre. The move also saw Bari join the group COO executive management team. Bari joined the group last February from Standard Chartered, where he served as global head of technology delivery. Earlier in his career, he spent stints with Barclays Capital and Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment appointed Michael Cole-Fontayn as the new CISI chairman. Cole-Fontayn formally became CISI chairman from October 2018 when current chairman, Sir Alan Yarrow, Chartered FCSI(Hon) retires after completing nine years. After a 35 year career in financial services at BNY Mellon, Cole-Fontayn is chairman of the Association of Financial Markets in Europe (AFME), which he will continue alongside his new role at the CISI. He is also founding director and advisory council member of the Financial Markets Standards Board (FMSB), trustee of the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust (Mental Health Charity) and founding chairman of global programme the 30% Club.
Deloitte hired Europol executive director Rob Wainwright to help run its cyber-security practice, amid rising fears among companies of online crime. Wainwright joined the Big Four’s Amsterdam-based.
WHIreland International Wealth appointed Mike Simpson as a non-executive chairman. With over 35 years’ experience in financial services in the Isle of Man and Bermuda, Simpson previously served as chairman of both the Isle of Man Society of Chartered Accountants, and the Isle of Man Wealth and Fund Services Association.
SANNE, the listed provider of alternative asset and corporate administration services, appointed its chief financial officer, Spencer Daley, as its head of mergers and acquisitions and strategy. James Ireland succeeded Daley as CFO and joined Sanne from Investec.
State Street Global Advisors appointed Rory Tobin as global head of its SPDR exchange-traded fund business. Nick Good, previously co-head of the SPDR ETF business, was appointed as State Street’s chief growth and strategy officer. Tobin joined State Street Global Advisors in 2014 from Barclays Wealth & Investment Management, where he served as chief executive of Barclays Asset Management and was global head of investments and solutions. He continues to report to Cyrus Taraporevala, president and chief executive officer of State Street Global Advisors. Jim Ross, chairman of global SPDR and State Street Global Advisors Funds Management continues in his role.
PIMCO appointed Richard Bacon and Joseph McCurdy as vice presidents of its UK global wealth management team. Both report to Jonathan Dabinett, senior vice president and head of UK global wealth management.
UK-based Heartwood Investment Management, the asset management arm of Handelsbanken, appointed Siobhan Pandya as head of investment communications, and Alistair Campbell and Nikki Howes as investment associates. Pandya is responsible for developing and implementing the content and marketing strategy for Heartwood. She previously spent seven years at M&G Investments, most recently as head of equities market content. She has also held roles at Henderson Global Investors, Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan. Campbell’s primary area of research is alternatives and he is assisting Charu Lahiri in the management of the Heartwood Alternatives Fund. Prior to joining Heartwood, he worked as a portfolio manager at Sarasin & Partners, where he focused on liquid hedge fund strategies. Howes is working with Michael Stanes on the management of the growth investment strategy, while her primary area of research is equities. Before joining Heartwood, she worked in the investment banking division of JP Morgan and began her career at UBS in London.
Axiom Alternative Investments, the French asset manager, appointed of Paul Gagey as a portfolio manager. He runs Axiom’s fund, Axiom Obligataire. He joined from Aviva Investors, where he was director of high yield bond funds and managed several open-ended funds from 2006 to 2017.
Conquest Group, an independent asset management and financial advisory firm with offices located in Dublin, Luxembourg, Paris and Hong Kong, appointed Philippe Taillardat as director. Taillardat has over 25 years of asset management and investment banking experience, primarily in principal investing, financial advisory, equity and debt financing across global infrastructure and sustainable energy sectors.
Fidelity International appointed Christian Staub as managing director of its continental European operation. He succeeded Jon Skillman, who moved to a new role in the company managing Global Workplace Investing. Staub has over 20 years’ experience in the industry and joins after four years at BlackRock, where he held a number of senior European distribution roles. Prior to joining BlackRock, he held several senior positions at Allianz Asset Management and PIMCO, following an initial period as an investment analyst at UBS. He reports to Simon Haslam, interim president, and is a member of Fidelity International’s global operating committee. He is based in Luxembourg.
Laven Partners, the compliance and due diligence consultancy and regulatory software publisher, appointed Priscilla Babs as a senior consultant, working on the firm’s team dealing with the upcoming data protection laws from the European Union – GDPR. Babs joined from the investment management house BlueBay. She has worked on GDPR projects across several fields. As well as BlueBay Asset Management, she has worked at Standard Chartered Bank.
Deutsche Bank Wealth Management appointed Jorge Rodriguez Garcia as head of Latin America team for Switzerland and Ricardo Pablos Rodrigues as relationship manager for Brazilian clients in Geneva. Garcia has more than 30 years of experience in wealth management and investment banking with international banks. He worked for 15 years at Citigroup in both the investment and private bank. Rodrigues has over 14 years of experience in the sector. He joined from Compagnie Bancaire Helvetique, where he spent the last three and a half years as a relationship manager covering high net worth individuals.
Private client and funds business Hawksford appointed Sarah Locker as associate director, and Wendy Inns, Vicky Mills and Cordelia Miller as directors in Jersey. Locker has a law degree and masters in commercial property law. She previously worked for Jersey-based legal practice Nigel Harris and Partners. Inns is responsible for developing Hawksford’s response to regulatory and reporting environment for the benefit of its clients. Mills joined Hawksford in 2017 and has over 20 years’ experience in the trust industry. Miller joined Hawksford as head of legal in 2015.
Wealth manager Charles Stanley appointed Glenn Baker as business development director and Robert Winterton as a business development executive. Baker worked with institutions like Schroders Private Bank and Kleinwort Hambros. He will develop Charles Stanley’s partnership relationships with professional advisors where the wealth managers’ expertise in financial planning, investment and inheritance tax mitigation is beneficial to their clients.
Winterton joined Charles Stanley from Asset Match, where he was head of sales and business development. He supports Charles Stanley’s private client investment management and charity asset management operations.
Julius Baer appointed five new hires to support business growth and regional expansion in the UK market. The new hires work out of its London operation and across new offices in Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh. Alex Charamblous joined from the financial executive team at Royal Bank of Canada, where he worked for 6 years. Duncan Prince has 20 years of experience working in the private client sector based in Jersey, Channel Islands. Daniel Ryan has worked for 16 years with Coutts, HSBC and RBC. Charles Kendrick was previously a director at RBC Wealth Management. Darren Hirst joined as a relationship manager based in Leeds. He previously worked at Barclays for over 29 years.
Multrees, the support services partner for wealth management and private investment offices, appointed Hugh Mullan as chairman. Mullan had been acting as interim-chairman since Nigel Pilkington’s death in January. Prior to joining Multrees, Mullan was the UK chief executive at Fidelity Worldwide Investment. He has also held senior positions at Barclays Wealth, Schroders and Citibank.
UK wealth manager Brown Shipley appointed Jeremy Croysdill and David Kay as client directors of its London office. Croysdill, who has over 30 years’ industry experience, was previously wealth planner at Barclays Wealth and client director at Heartwood Wealth Management. Kay has over 35 years’ wealth planning experience, following roles at Deutsche Bank Wealth Management, Coutts and Kleinwort Benson.
Zedra, trust, corporate and fund services firm, appointed Peter Cheesley as client director. He is based in Jersey. Cheesley focuses on developing key business relationships as well as strengthening the corporate services offering and supporting international clients. Although he is based in the offshore finance centre of Jersey, he collaborates closely with many of ZEDRA’s other key offices, including London. Cheesley’s brief also includes developing the fund administration business.
He has nearly 25 years’ of experience in the banking, legal and fiduciary sector. He has held roles at Bank of Scotland, Clifford Chance and Pinsent Masons.
Bank of Singapore appointed Anthony Simcic as managing director of its international team. The hire is part of the bank's plans to grow its operations surrounding high net worth individuals in Europe. Simcic is responsible for expanding the bank’s presence in the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA comprises the European Union countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. He reports directly to Olivier Denis, global market head for Singapore, Malaysia and international. He has more than 18 years of banking experience, and was previously head of private banking at HSBC Private Bank Luxembourg.
Albion Capital, the UK-based independent investment manager, appointed three new recruits to its technology team as part of its strategic expansion in the sector. Catriona McDonald and Nadine Torbey joined the firm to help with tech investments from Albion’s VCT portfolios. Tanel Ozdemir has also joined the investment team at Albion Capital as an analyst on the UCL Technology Fund. McDonald joined from Goldman Sachs, where she specialised in renewable technology and power in roles across the firm’s New York and London offices. Torbey joined after more than three years working in Lebanon for Berytech Fund Management. Ozdemir was previously an investment analyst at Newable Ventures, having completed his PhD at UCL, where his research focused on developing synthetic biological tools for microbiome engineering.
Citi Private Bank appointed Thomas Schlaus as team leader of its Zurich operation. He joined the Northern European leadership team and will report to region head, James Holder. Schlaus has over 20 years of experience structuring, executing and managing institutional family office relationships. He joins from Deutsche Bank, where he was most recently the global chief operating officer for key client partners, based in Zurich. Chris Braendli, its senior family office coverage banker in Zurich, merged his business with the new team and reports to Schlaus. Markus von Wallenberg, managing director based in Frankfurt, continued as head of its German-speaking Europe team.
Franklin Templeton Investments appointed Caroline Baron as head of exchange-traded fund sales – Europe, Middle East and Africa. Baron is based in London. She is responsible for generating and retaining assets within the Franklin LibertyShares® product suite. She works with the Franklin Templeton Global and European ETF team as well as directly engaging with ETF investors. She reports to Vivek Kudva, managing director, EMEA and India. Prior to Franklin Templeton, Baron was at Invesco PowerShares, where she was head of UK distribution focusing on smart beta strategies.
Stanhope Capital appointed Alex Kershaw as partner within its portfolio management team. He joined Stanhope Capital after 15 years with institutional investment advisor Cambridge Associates, where he was formerly head of the London office and head of the Middle East and Africa practice. His clients included sovereign wealth funds, central banks, development funds and other governmental investors, as well as families.
Julius Baer appointed Markus Merk as relationship manager for northern Germany. Merk has around twenty years' experience in the industry. He most recently worked as a deputy head of private banking at Bankhaus Hallbaum. At Julius Baer, where he started working at the beginning of the year, Merk focuses on the firm's private clients.
Iñigo Calderón was named head of central region of Indosuez Wealth Management (Spain) and will lead the team in Madrid. He previously worked at Deutsche Bank and will be joined in Madrid by Diego Rosillo, Letizia Beca, Enrique Revuelta, Andrés Francoy and Ignacio Guzmán. The Seville office is led by Carlos Gálvez, who joined as regional director of Andalusia and Extremadura, and Juan Gómez Millán, senior wealth manager. In Barcelona, the firm hired Carlos Sensat as new regional head, as well as wealth managers Javier de Andrés and Jordi Solsona. Indosuez’s Valencia office added David Nogués as new regional head and Manuel Martínez, wealth manager.
HSBC Alternative Investments Limited appointed Tim Williams as head of real estate investment. He runs the direct real estate investment activities for advisory clients, club deals and managing the existing direct property investments for HSBC’s clients. Based in London, Williams reports to Guy Morrell, head of real estate investment for HSBC Global Asset Management, and locally to Steven Ward, chief executive for HAIL. Williams joined from CBRE, where he spent the last 16 years and was a senior director in the investment team. Sonal Saluja also joined the real estate investment team within HAIL.
He reports to Williams. Sonal joins from the real estate advisory firm 90 North Real Estate Partners, where he spent the last five years identifying, structuring and closing real estate transactions along with asset managing development projects
UK private equity firm WestBridge Capital appointed Edward Minton as investment executive. Minton joined from WK Corporate Finance, where he specialised in supporting management teams to undertake buyouts. At WestBridge, he joined the investment team to originate and make new investments.
Guernsey Finance, the promotional agency for the island’s finance industry, deployed Dorothy Kwok in Hong Kong to support its efforts in the city-state and China. The agency set up shop in Hong Kong at the end of 2016 to support its ongoing work with China, which began over a decade ago.
Vontobel senior manager Patrice Humbel was named to oversee the firm’s wealth management business that serves North America clients, Vontobel Swiss Wealth Advisors AG, aka VSWA. Humbel has been head of the Geneva office of VSWA for five years. It is one of four locations - alongside Zurich, Dallas and New York - in which the wealth management firm operates. Humbel is a Swiss national with more than 30 years of experience in the field of wealth management, which he mainly acquired in the US in management functions at Morgan Stanley and UBS, among others, before joining VSWA in 2013. At the same time, Roger Scherer, chief operating officer of VSWA, who is managing the business on an interim basis, was named deputy CEO of VSWA.
UK-headquartered Guardian Wealth Management, with offices in places including Hong Kong and Geneva, appointed James Ferguson as regional manager of Abu Dhabi. Ferguson joined GWM in 2015. Ferguson’s career started at Coutts & Co private bank in London before moving to the Bank of England. After seven years in banking, in 2008 Ferguson moved into private client work, working as an appointed representative of Legal & General and in 2012 became an independent financial advisor with Enness Private Clients.
Scottish independent private investment office North Capital Management appointed George Renouf as head of investment. Renouf is based in Edinburgh. In his previous role, Renouf was a member of the management team and head of investment strategy at Alliance Trust, where he was responsible for investment strategy, investment risk, strategic and tactical asset allocation, as well as regulatory oversight of investment products.
Legal & General Investment Management appointed Kathleen Gallagher as non-executive director, subject to FCA approval. Gallagher was appointed to Legal & General Investment Management America’s board in May 2017 and remains in this role alongside her role as non-executive director on LGIMH’s board. Previously, Kathleen was chief investment officer at Ford Motor Company, where she had responsibility for investing $66 billion in global retirement assets.
European asset management firm Amundi appointed Stephanie Carbonneil as head of third party distribution for UK, Ireland and Greece. Carbonneil is based in London and reports to Christian Pellis, global head of distribution, and Laurent Guillet, chief executive of Amundi’s London branch. She joined from Schroders, where she spent three years managing the London office’s sales and marketing strategy for investment trusts.
Waverton Investment Management said global equities fund manager George Palmer left the firm to help build a business outside of the investment management industry. Palmer joined Waverton in 2014 from Grant Thornton, where he spent five years advising asset managers on taxation, acquisitions and structuring. Katrina Norris, who has been co-manager of the Waverton Global Equity fund since January 2017, continues to manage the fund, following the departure of George Palmer.
UK wealth management firm Saranac Partners has announced that David Giampaolo stepped down as both managing partner and executive director of the firm. Giampaolo serves as a senior advisor to Saranac Partners.
Chicago-headquartered Northern Trust named Dave Sauvarin as head of its Guernsey business, replacing Belinda Aspinall who assumes a senior role in the company's London office. Sauvarin who joined Northern Trust in 1995, following its acquisition of Barings FSG, was most recently chief risk officer for Northern Trust in the Channel Islands. During his 23 years at Northern Trust, Sauvarin has held various leadership positions including serving as a director of Northern Trust International Fund Administration Services (Guernsey) Limited where he was head of governance services.
In his new role Sauvarin reports to Teresa Parker, president of Northern Trust in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Offshore law firm Carey Olsen appointed Michael Evans in Jersey to its banking and finance team. Evans brought with him more than 10 years' experience working on a variety of finance transactions and has acted for a wide range of international institutions and borrowers on complex multi-jurisdictional bilateral and syndicated facilities. He has a particular interest in leveraged and acquisition finance, Islamic finance and restructuring and insolvency.
Gresham House, the UK specialist alternative asset manager, appointed Rachel Beagles as non-executive director of its board. Beagles joined with a wealth of investment industry experience, and was recently appointed chairman of the Association of Investment Companies (AIC). She is also chairman of Securities Trust of Scotland plc (STS) and of NewlonBuild, a social housing provider, and also sits on the board of BlackRock Emerging Europe (BEEP) and Aberdeen New India Investment Trust (ANII).
European asset management firm Amundi appointed Cristina Matti as head of European small- and mid-cap equities and country strategies. She reports to Diego Franzin, head of equity investment platform. Matti has been co-head of European small- and mid-caps at Amundi since July 2017. Prior to this, she was head of European small- and mid-caps for Pioneer Investments.
Nedbank Private Wealth, part of South Africa-headquartered Nedbank, appointed Stuart Cummins to replace retiring managing director and executive head, Greg Horton. Cummins’ most recent senior roles with Cazenove Capital, C Hoare & Co and Barclays Wealth. Most recently, he was responsible for the portfolio management and wealth planning business at C Hoare & Co, and was a member of the executive group and investment committee.
North Americas
Merrill Lynch Wealth Management named Susan Axelrod as its chief
supervisory officer. A 28-year veteran of FINRA, the US
securities regulator, Axelrod replaced Michelle Carter, who
previously led supervision and oversight for the firm. In March,
Carter transferred to a newly-created role at US Trust, leading
business planning, governance and controls. Axelrod reports to
Andy Sieg, head of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.
HSBC Bank appointed Sarabjit Walia as head of digital for its US retail banking and wealth management group. He is based in New York City. Walia reports to Pablo Sanchez, regional head of retail banking and wealth management US. Prior to this role, Walia was head of mobile and online banking at TD Bank.
UBS Wealth Management Americas hired Edward Eccles as an executive director and senior portfolio manager. Eccles, who joined from Oppenheimer Asset Management’s consulting group, supports UBS’ multi-asset portfolios with a focus on liquid alternatives model offerings.
Raymond James Financial Services hired senior financial advisor Nicole Sennett to its operation in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Sennett joined from Merrill Lynch. She and client service associate Cindy Rinehimer operate as Sennett & Associates Wealth Group, an independent practice with securities offered through Raymond James Financial Services.
Fidelity’s family office business, part of Fidelity Investments, appointed Rupal Poltack as senior vice president, family office strategy. Poltack reports to Andrew Fay, head of the family office business. Previously, Poltack served as chief financial officer and chief operations officer at a large single family office and private trust company for more than nine years.
Hodges Capital Management appointed Brett Rainey as chief operating officer. He joined Hodges from Envestnet Asset Management where he was a senior vice president. Rainey has 25 years' experience in the investment industry. He reports to Craig Hodges, chief executive.
Cumberland Trust, an independent corporate trustee with nine offices serving clients in 48 states, appointed Bill Yeager as regional development officer based in the company’s Nashville’s headquarters. Prior to joining Cumberland Trust, he owned a company that represented manufacturers in the automation and robotics industry.
Point View Wealth Management promoted Jeanette Carey to the newly-created position of director of client services. Carey has 25-years’ experience in the financial services and wealth management industry. She joined Point View Wealth Management in 2013.

She is based in Guernsey. Carrell was at law firm Butler Snow as a tax associate and focused largely on advising on US federal tax rules with respect to income, estate and gift tax issues.
Evercore Wealth Management appointed Thomas Olchon as a managing director and wealth and fiduciary advisor, joining the firm from Bessemer Trust, where he led a team serving ultra-high net worth clients. Prior to joining Bessemer Trust in 2004, Olchon worked as a portfolio manager at US Trust, where he started his career in 2000. Olchon is based in New York. He reports to Chris Zander, chief wealth and fiduciary advisor.
Former UK business leader and Treasury Minister, Lord (Paul) Myners, who has been associated with moves to push right for shareholders and improve savings, was appointed to the board of Rockefeller Capital Management. Myers joined the firm’s board of directors.
In addition to serving as Treasury Minister and on the Court of the Bank of England, Lord Myners ran one of the UK’s largest institutional investors for nearly 20 years, and has served on the boards of GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, Lloyd’s of London, Coutts & Co., and the Bank of New York. Lord Myners has also chaired several public UK companies such as retailer Marks & Spencer and Land Securities, Europe’s largest REIT. He became a member of the Court of the Bank of England in 2004 and was appointed Treasury Minister in the fall of 2008, with a specific brief for managing the UK’s response to the banking crisis. He was at the same time elevated to membership of The House of Lords. Lord Myners is the chairman and a partner of Cevian Capital; chairman of Edelman UK; and chancellor of the University of Exeter. He is the former chair of the London School of Economics.

He started his career as a portfolio manager with Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, then Northern Trust and most recently served as the senior investment strategist for Wells Fargo Private Bank in San Diego. There he managed more than $800 million in assets for individuals, families, private foundations and other charitable organizations.
BNY Mellon Wealth Management appointed Robert Bowman as Mid-Atlantic region managing director, business development, in Philadelphia. Bowman reports to regional president, Lee Woolley and directs leadership for all new business activities, business development teams, and local marketing efforts from Philadelphia south through Delaware, Maryland, Washington, DC and Virginia. Prior to this, Bowman was MD at National Securities, an independent broker dealer and RIA, and served as partner and MD at Snowden Lane Partners, a start-up hybrid wealth management firm. Argent Trust Company appointed Sue Turnage to run the newly-opened office in Fort Worth, Texas. Turnage has 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. As Tarrant County market president, she manages Argent’s operations in Fort Worth and surrounding communities. Before joining Argent, Turnage was executive vice president and regional manager for Frost Wealth Advisors/Frost Bank, Tarrant County and North Texas.
Oregon-headquartered Umpqua Bank has appointed managing directors Shaun Skeris and Rob Pitois, both of whom are based in Irvine, to lead its wealth management teams across Northern and Southern California. The bank also added San Diego private wealth advisors Kathy Gamez and Veronica Rubio as part of its first Southern California wealth management team. Skeris, senior vice president & managing director, has nearly two decades of wealth management experience. He recently served as senior vice president and Southern California team leader for City National Bank in Irvine. Pitois, senior vice president & managing director, has more than 17 years of experience in the financial services industry. He was previously team leader for San Diego at City National Bank.
Gamez, senior vice president & senior private wealth advisor, has more than 25 years of experience serving high net worth clients in the San Diego region. Citizens Investment Services appointed Kevin Martin as president, Citizens Securities Inc, and head of Citizens Investment Services. Martin joined from JP Morgan, where he held a variety of leadership roles in the company’s brokerage and wealth management businesses. Citizens Investment Services is the division of Citizens Bank Wealth Management that provides investment and insurance solutions for individuals and business owners. Martin reports to John Bahnken, president of Citizens Bank Wealth Management. Martin worked at JP Morgan for 20 years; prior to this, he held senior roles at Ernst & Young (EY) and BISYS Fund Services.
State Street Global Advisors, the asset management business of State Street Corporation, appointed Rory Tobin as global head of its SPDR exchange-traded fund business. Nick Good, previously co-head of the SPDR ETF business, was appointed as State Street’s chief growth and strategy officer. Tobin joined State Street Global Advisors in 2014 from Barclays Wealth & Investment Management, where he served as chief executive of Barclays Asset Management and was global head of investments and solutions. He report to Cyrus Taraporevala, president and chief executive officer of State Street Global Advisors. In his new role, Good is responsible for working with State Street’s management committee and board of directors to develop long-term business growth, strengthen the company’s business partnerships and drive continued innovation and solutions for clients. Jim Ross, chairman of global SPDR and State Street Global Advisors Funds Management continues in his role.
Banc of California appointed Joubin Rahimi as senior vice president of private banking of its San Diego operation. Rahimi joined Banc of California from First Foundation Bank. He has over 19 years of banking experience, primarily within the San Diego area, including previous experience at First Republic Bank, Comerica Bank and Wells Fargo Bank. He works with Steve Cusato, who serves as market executive for San Diego.
Bank of America appointed Merrill Lynch executive Matt McCormack as market president, serving as the company’s enterprise leader in the greater Sacramento region. He succeeded Kathie Sowa. He spent his entire 19-year career with Merrill Lynch in offices across the US. He also serves as the Merrill Lynch Wealth Management market executive for the greater Sacramento region, which includes Merrill Lynch offices in Chico, Folsom, Redding, and Roseville.

RBC Global Asset Management appointed Robert Henderson as portfolio manager, joining RBC GAM's investment team in Boston, Massachusetts. Henderson serves as lead portfolio manager for RBC GAM's Mid Cap Value Strategy. In addition to his portfolio management responsibilities, Henderson provides research analysis support to strategies managed by RBC GAM's Boston-based enterprise team. He joins the team with more than 25 years' investment experience as both an analyst and portfolio manager.
Strothman and Company, the Kentucky-based certified public accountant firm, launched a wealth management business that targets high net worth clients. The entity is called Strothman Wealth Care. The new division is led by Ryan Antepenko, an Accredited Investment Fiduciary, who combines 15 years of experience with a client-oriented focus to financial planning.
Deutsche Bank Wealth Management appointed Pascal Landrove as team head of its Miami office. He joined Deutsche Bank Switzerland in 2015 as a managing director and senior relationship manager for Mexico in Geneva, a role he continues alongside his new expanded responsibility in the US. The firm also appointed Roberto Teofilo as a relationship manager and director of the Miami office, covering ultra-high net worth clients from Brazil. Teofilo’s career spans 18 years. He was most recently with JP Morgan, and also had roles at Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse First Boston advising Brazilian families. In addition, Pascal Landrove, who joined Deutsche Bank Switzerland in 2015 as a managing director and senior relationship manager for Mexico in Geneva, took the expanded responsibility in the US as team head for the Miami office.
Merrill Lynch made a score of appointments at its private banking and investment group which serves ultra-high net worth clients. Linda Patel became regional managing director for Texas, based in Dallas. Andres De Corral, based in Miami, became RMD of Florida.
Rockefeller Capital Management appointed that Michael Brakey and Grace Yoon will join it. Brakey heads credit and banking in the wealth management business, developing client deposit and credit solutions, including asset-based lending, in support of broad client strategic and liquidity needs. Yoon is the chief operating officer of strategic advisory as well as head of strategic Initiatives for the firm overall. Previously, Brakey was a managing director and head of high-net-worth lending at Morgan Stanley, which he joined in 2011 to help accelerate the firm’s banking growth strategy. Prior to this, Brakey spent almost 18 years at Merrill Lynch, later Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he finished as a managing director and head of global wealth credit strategy and investment lending.
Yoon was most recently a senior executive in financial services advisory at Ernst & Young, advising financial institutions in areas of transformation, innovation and strategy. Previously, Yoon was a managing director at Morgan Stanley, responsible for driving wealth and asset management growth for investment banking clients.
Another senior former Morgan Stanley figure joined Rockefeller Capital Management: Christopher Randazzo, who was named head of wealth management and head of technology and operations. Randazzo, like Gregory J Fleming, the firm’s chief executive and president, worked previously at Morgan Stanley. Randazzo had been chief information officer for global wealth management and investment management at the US-listed firm. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Randazzo was the CIO for global wealth and investment management at Bank of America Merrill Lynch from 2008 to 2013. He joined Merrill Lynch in 1994 and held a variety of other senior technology roles at the firm.
Synovus Family Asset Management, subsidiary of US-based Synovus bank, appointed Konda Pollard as senior vice president and lead family office advisor of its new office in Atlanta. She joined Synovus in 2003 and has more than 20 years of experience in private banking and wealth management. She entered the private banking industry with SunTrust in Atlanta in 1996.
Wilmington Trust appointed Dexter Conner as senior private client
advisor for its wealth advisory office in Atlanta. In his new
role, Conner focuses on clients in the sports and entertainment
industries. Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, Conner was a
financial planning specialist with Morgan Stanley Wealth
Management.
Canaccord Genuity Group hired the MLD Wealth Management Group to
its Canadian wealth management business. Based in Calgary, the
MLD Wealth Management Group operates as a multi-family office
with a focus on helping high net worth clients with their complex
financial goals. Chad Larson, Curtis Mayert and Sue Derlargo all
joined Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management in Canada alongside a
team of five professionals. Larson, director of wealth management
and senior vice president, is the lead portfolio manager for the
MLD Wealth Management Group. Mayert, director of wealth
management and senior vice president, has been in the financial
industry since 1987. Derlargo, vice president and senior
financial planner, has more than 15 years of investment and
financial planning experience.
UBS hired a new high net worth focused team called Frederickson Capital Management based in San Jose, California. The team joined the firm from Wells Fargo Advisors. The team consists of team leader Brad Frederickson, his son Jeff Frederickson, Rhett Hall and Tricia Flanagan. They oversee $3.2 million in production and $400 million in assets under management. The team will report to San Jose branch manager, Eric Weider.
Brad Frederickson is a managing director and senior portfolio manager with over 30 years of experience in private wealth management. Jeff Frederickson is an account vice president and a fourth generation financial advisor. He joined Frederickson Capital Management of Wells Fargo Advisors in 2014. Hall is a senior wealth strategy associate with 15 years of Wealth Management experience. Flanagan is a senior client service associate and has been with Wells Fargo and Frederickson Capital Management for over 15 years.
US Trust added 11 hires in January across the US. It appointed four new members in offices across California. Maria Humphreys joined the Los Angeles office as a private client manager. Cynthia Maddox joined the Walnut Creek office as a senior trust officer. She previously worked at Green Square Capital as legal counsel. US Trust also appointed Shirin Poustchi as private client advisor at its San Diego office, and Amy Witten as speciality asset manager of its Newport Beach office. Poustchi was previously at Wells Fargo, and Witten was previously at Ventas. It also appointed Thomas Kania as private client advisor of its Greenwich, Connecticut office, Tessa Stark as a senior trust officer of its Chicago office, Jennifer Goodman as a private client advisor of its Troy, Michigan office, and Nayana Jha as private client advisor of its Minneapolis office. Kania was previously at Fieldpoint Private Bank and Trust as a managing director. Stark was previously an attorney at Casting Crane. Goodman was previously at Fifth Bank, where she was a private banking sales director. Jha was previously at The Blake School as director of alumni relations.
Two members were added to US Trust's offices in Texas. Ryan Brown and Dan Connolly joined its Dallas operation as a private client advisor, and Dan Connolly joined its Austin office as a private client advisor. Brown was previously at Novo PLM and Connolly was at Comerica Bank.
Lastly, US Trust appointed Lee Ann Martinson as philanthropic fiduciary executive. She was previously at Union Bank, where she was a vice president and senior trust officer.
Dynasty Financial Partners appointed CJM Wealth Management to the Dynasty network of advisory firms. Based in Deer Park, New York, CJM Wealth Management is an independent RIA. Chief executive and advisor, Charles Massimo, founded CJM Wealth Management 15 years ago. Prior to CJM Wealth Management, Massimo held positions at Merrill Lynch, Citigroup Global Markets and Royal Alliance. He began his career in 1987 at Shearson Lehman Brothers. In 2005, Peter Anastasian joined CJM Wealth Management as managing director and financial advisor from Smith Barney. Anastasian specializes in wealth management, asset protection and tax minimization strategies for affluent individuals and closely held businesses. In addition to Massimo and Anastasian, CJM Wealth has three other members, Diane Peters, director of client services, Mary Cusumano, client planning specialist, and Donna Herrera, director of client operations.
Northern Trust appointed Hunter Payne as regional wealth advisor in the Naples, Florida office. Payne, in collaboration with regional client service teams, provides wealth planning solutions for ultra-high net worth clients in the Southwest Florida region. He has over 20 years of tax and wealth planning experience. Most recently, he served as a managing member, general counsel, and head of wealth planning services for Harbour Capital Advisors, a multi-family office and investment advisory firm.
First Republic Bank, a US private bank and wealth management firm, appointed Bill Grinnell and Darin Souza as managing directors of First Republic Investment Management. Both, Grinnell and Souza work in First Republic’s office at 160 Federal Street in Boston. Both provide investment management, retirement planning and other wealth management services to individuals, families, businesses, non-profits and foundations.
Grinnell has 33 years' experience in the financial sector. He has worked as a fixed income portfolio manager at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York, and in the private wealth management divisions at JP Morgan, Lehman Brothers, Credit Suisse in San Francisco and Boston, and most recently, Wells Fargo Advisors. Souza has 12 years of experience working with ultra-high net worth families, entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations. Before joining First Republic, Souza worked for Lehman, Credit Suisse and most recently, Wells Fargo Advisors.
Financial services firm B Riley Financial appointed Chuck Hastings as director of wealth management strategic initiatives. He is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Hastings serves as a liaison for B Riley Wealth Management and Wunderlich Securities, a provider of wealth management solutions and a wholly-owned subsidiary of B Riley Financial. He also serves as a portfolio manager at B Riley Asset Management, where he manages assets across a mutual fund, a hedge fund, and separately managed accounts. Prior to joining B. Riley Asset Management, Hastings was head of trading for GPS Partners, where he traded in equities, fixed income securities, options and commodities for a $3.5 billion MLP-focused hedge fund.
Smead Capital Management, a Seattle-based RIA that managers money for family offices, advisors and institutions, hired Jameson Greenfield as chief financial officer. Greenfield recently held a number of senior roles at BlackRock. Most recently, he oversaw the operational support of BlackRock’s hedge fund and private credit platforms.
Virginia Commonwealth Bank appointed William Callaghan as chief administrative officer. A 38-year veteran of the sector, Callaghan reports to Randal R Greene, chief executive of Bay Banks of Virginia, VCB’s holding company. Most recently, Callaghan served as chief information officer of Xenith Bank in Richmond. He was one of the original members of that firm’s executive team to assist in the start-up of the bank.
Intertrust, a provider of trust, corporate and fund services, appointed former US Bank and JP Morgan senior manager James Ferguson as its Americas head. Ferguson is responsible for Intertrust's six offices in the US, as well as offices in Bahamas, Brazil, BVI, Canada, Curacao, and its key office in the Cayman Islands. Prior to this new role, Ferguson was global head of strategy and product development at US Bank's Wealth Management & Investment Services division.
CIBC Atlantic Trust Private Wealth Management appointed Beth Mayfield as managing director and Theresa Marx as a senior vice president to its wealth strategies group in Atlanta and Chicago, respectively. As senior wealth strategists, they work with clients and their advisors to develop and implement charitable, estate and wealth transfer planning as part of CIBC Atlantic Trust’s integrated wealth management process. Mayfield joined with more than 20 years of estate planning and tax experience. Prior to joining CIBC Atlantic Trust, she was an estate planning attorney at Greenberg Traurig. Marx has more than 14 years of industry and legal experience. Prior to joining the firm, she was senior counsel for BMO Wealth Management.
California-based financial services firm First Foundation, the parent company of First Foundation Advisors and First Foundation Bank, appointed Martha Corbett to the board of directors. Corbett is a former partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she served in a variety of leadership and client service roles.
US investment manager Brinker Capital expanded its marketing and wealth advisory teams with three new hires. The firm appointed Jason Brown as director of digital marketing, Julie Olley as wealth advisory account executive, and Mark Yoder as wealth advisory account executive. Olley is responsible for coordination of new business development for Brinker Capital's wealth advisory clients. She has more than five years of industry experience. Prior to joining the company, Olley worked as a business development associate at The Glenmede Trust Company.
Yoder, who holds a similar role, also joined from The Glenmede Trust Company, where he worked on the alternative asset services team. He has more than seven years of industry experience to the company. Both Olley and Yoder report to Thomas Wilson, managing director of wealth advisory.
Umpqua Bank, a subsidiary of Umpqua Holdings Corporation, appointed Jeff Marshall as its first chief investment strategist, as part of the bank’s expansion of its wealth management operation. Marshall has more than 20 years of investment management and research experience. Previously, he held positions at Sanford C Bernstein, Windermere Investments and Convergent Wealth Advisors.
With the addition of a chief investment strategist, Umpqua’s
proprietary market and investment research will enhance the
bank’s suite of wealth management solutions for high net worth
individuals and institutional clients.
Wilmington Trust hired Mary McGovern as a senior private banker
at its New Jersey office. McGovern has nearly two decades of
experience in private banking and providing financial advice.
Before joining Wilmington Trust, she spent 13 years at US Trust,
where she served as a senior vice president and private client
manager. Previously, she also held positions at Chase and Merrill
Lynch.
Canada’s BMO Wealth Management made six appointments at its ultra-high net worth unit, which serves uber-rich individuals and family offices globally. Rick Pomeroy joined as senior managing director; Mike Miranda, Doug Sullivan and Ron Macleod as managing directors; Don Dabisch as a director; and Bo Youn Jo as director of research analytics.
Based in Chicago, Pomeroy has over 20 years’ experience in financial services. He works closely with leadership to implement new client engagement strategies and client experience enhancements. Previously, he held several executive and managerial roles at global wealth management firms, including US Trust and TIAA.
Miranda leads the Chicago-based investment advisory group. He is a primary member of the US Investment Management Leadership team, and will help drive growth in the UHNW business with a focus on the client experience, enhancing the product and platform suite and delivering a unified integrated offering for clients. Miranda is a Certified Financial Analyst with over 18 years of experience running investment businesses, teams and portfolios.
Sullivan has 30 years of experience helping clients navigate the issues of significant wealth. He is responsible for promoting new client engagement across the enterprise; he works with leadership to develop and execute strategies for growing the business and delivering client experiences.
Macleod works with leadership to promote new client engagement across the enterprise. He is a family office specialist, guiding them to appropriate resources and services. He has spent nearly 25 years working with family office management and serving UHNW clients including entrepreneurs, athletes, and entertainers, among others.
Dabisch serves as a director on the Capital Advisory Services team, and has over 25 years of experience in financial services. He advises ultra-affluent families and individuals on the management and optimization of their financial liabilities.
Based in Portland, Bo Youn Jo helps lead efforts to optimize portfolio construction for clients, evaluating multiple risk factors and market exposures. She is also involved in the financial technology efforts of BMO Financial Group.

MFS Investment Management hired Chopin Zhou as the director of
business development and relationship management for China of its
wholly-owned subsidiary, MFS Financial Management Consulting
(Shanghai) Co Ltd. Zhou reports to Jonathan Tiu, senior managing
director, Asia, at MFS, and is based in Shanghai at the office
MFS opened in August last year.
Zhou has over 16 years of industry experience and was deputy head of institutional and international business at SWS MU Fund Management prior to joining MFS. Before that, he was deputy head of institutional business at Franklin Templeton Sealand Fund Management, and the head of capital market research at Accenture Shanghai. He began his career with HSBC Group in China and Canada.
BNP Paribas appointed Vikas Jaidka as the new head of Non-Resident Indian (NRI) clients. Based in Singapore, reporting into Samir Bimal, head of Indian markets, Jaidka leads the NRI teams in Hong Kong and Singapore. Jaidka replaced Masroor Batin who moved to take on new responsibilities at the WM Middle East and Africa market. Prior to joining BNP Paribas Wealth Management, Jaidka held senior positions at Citibank and was responsible for establishing and developing the bank’s NRI business across Asia-Pacific as well as in the UK, the United Arab Emirates and Africa.
A raft of senior executives at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, which has been hit by regulatory woes, left the lender. Melanie Laing, group executive for human resources, Kelly Bayer Rosmarin, group executive, institutional banking and markets, and David Whiteing, group executive, enterprise services and chief information officer, left the bank.
State Street Global Advisors appointed Kathleen Gallagher as head of exchange-traded funds model portfolios for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Asia-Pacific. Reporting to Rory Tobin, global head of SPDR ETFs and based in London, Gallagher is responsible for overseeing State Street Global Advisors’ multi-asset class investment operation. Prior to joining SSGA, Gallagher spent five years consulting at various financial firms with a focus on multi asset class investments including BlackRock and Barclays Global Investors.
Deutsche Bank named a new chief country officer for Hong Kong, Lok Yim. Yim took on this new position in addition to his current role as head of wealth management for Asia-Pacific. He replaced Peter Lo, who is retiring from Deutsche Bank after 15 years. In his new role, Yim reports to Werner Steinmüller, CEO for Asia-Pacific at Deutsche Bank, and continues to report to global head of wealth management, Fabrizio Campelli. He is responsible for the management and governance of all of the bank’s business and operations in Hong Kong.

Standard Chartered changed its business reporting lines, including private banking, following the decision by Anna Marrs, who had been regional chief executive of commercial and private banking, to leave the UK-listed lender.
Marrs, regional chief executive, ASEAN and South Asia (ASA) and CEO, commercial and private banking, was due to leave on 9 September. Marrs continued her handover of regional responsibilities to Judy Hsu, CEO, Singapore and ASEAN markets. Hsu took over as regional CEO, ASA, subject to regulatory approval and remained CEO, Singapore until a successor was appointed.
Commercial banking reports into Simon Cooper, CEO, corporate and
institutional banking. Standard Chartered said country CEOs
continues to drive client relationships, and commercial banking
remains a distinct business in Cooper’s portfolio. Jiten Arora,
regional head, CB, ASEAN and South Asia, took interim
responsibility for the CB business, with a permanent head to be
appointed in due course.
Didier von Daeniken continues to run private banking and wealth
management. For his wealth responsibilities, he reports to Ben
Hung, regional CEO, Greater China and North Asia and CEO, retail
banking. Hung works with von Daeniken and the retail team to

Bank of Singapore named Derrick Tan chief executive of its Hong Kong operation. The private banking arm of OCBC said Sermon Kwan, former Hong Kong CEO, remains a senior advisor “to ensure a smooth transition”. Tan leads the bank’s strategy in Greater China and North Asia with a particular focus on the Greater Bay area, which China plans to make the world’s largest bay area in terms of gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030.
Standard Chartered appointed Nakul Beri as managing director, global South Asian community, private banking. Based in Singapore, he reported to Vishal Jain, managing director and market head, South and South East Asia, private banking. Beri joined the firm J Safra Sarasin, where he was a managing director.
HSBC Insurance (Singapore) appointed Carlos Vazquez as its new chief executive. He succeeded Ian Martin, who will be assuming a new global role in HSBC Group Insurance based in London. Vazquez joined HSBC Insurance (Singapore) from Manulife (Singapore) where, as chief product officer, he oversaw product management and pricing. In Asia, Vazquez also served as CPO for Manulife Indonesia.

Citi Private Bank appointed Catherine Cheung as Asia-Pacific
strategist. Based in Hong Kong, she works with the bank’s product
partners and is responsible for promoting its investment strategy
across the region to internal stakeholders and ultra-high net
worth clients. She reports to chief investment strategist Ken
Peng.

Citi Private Bank’s APAC chief investment strategist. Prior to
joining Citi Private Bank, Cheung was head of portfolio advisory
at Citi’s global consumer bank in Hong Kong.
In her new role, Cheung is responsible for promoting the private bank’s investment strategy content for Asian markets across the different asset classes to both its ultra-high net worth clients and internal stakeholders, working with the global strategy team.
EFG appointed Thomas Jost as head of asset management business development, months after he departed his executive director position at Julius Baer. In his new role, Jost is responsible for building out EFG’s international asset management business. He reports to Oliver Balmelli, EFG’s deputy chief executive officer and co-head of private banking, Singapore.
Jeffery Sung joined Morgan Stanley at executive director level, having spent almost a decade at DBS. In his former role, Sung was a senior director on the China desk of its private bank. Sung had been a relationship manager at DBS’s Treasures arm, focusing on Malaysia and Thailand from Singapore and worked for the Singapore-listed bank for more than six years, joining the private banking arm of DBS in 2015.
State Street Corporation appointed Lisa Lou as country head of global services China and general manager of its Beijing branch. Based in Beijing, Lou is responsible for managing the State Street’s global services business and leading the firm’s China strategy. Lou reports to Richard Fogarty, senior vice president, head of global services North Asia. She has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. She most recently worked at JP Morgan Chase Bank China, where she was head of financial institutions and public sector clients for China and general manager of its Beijing branch. Prior to that, Lou held a number of senior management roles in Standard Chartered Bank China and HSBC Australia.
Deutsche Asset Management appointed Alex François as director of sales for asset management in the firm’s global client group for Australia and New Zealand. Based in Sydney, François concentrates on Deutsche Asset Management’s public markets capabilities, including equities and multi asset. François reports to Lidia Tomova, head of of GCG, Australia and New Zealand. With more than 25 years of experience in sales and distribution across institutional and wholesale markets, François was most recently head of institutional distribution, Australia & New Zealand at William Blair Investment Management. Prior to this, François held senior positions at Provident Capital, Principal Global I investors Australia, Schroders and ING NZ.
Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission re-appointed Julia Leung as executive director (intermediaries), taking on an added role of deputy chief executive at the regulator for a three-year stint. Leung assists the CEO in major policy areas as well as on longer-term strategy. Leung joined the SFC three years ago, overseeing the investment products division, and became executive director of the intermediaries division in 2016.
Chicago-headquartered real estate investing firm LaSalle Investment Management Keith Fujii as chief executive and president of Japan. Based in Tokyo, Fujii leads the LaSalle platform for investments in core-oriented strategies in Japan. He becomes representative director and president of LaSalle Investment Management. Fujii has over 25 years of real estate investment and banking experience. He has held roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Grove International Partners and Shinsei Bank. He joins LaSalle Investment Management from Ishin Hotel Group, where he was CEO. The current Japan CEO, Yas Nakashima, continues to be a representative director of LaSalle Investment Management and will also continue to support LaSalle’s Japan logistics platform.
State Street Global Advisors, the asset management business of State Street Corporation, appointed James MacNevin, chief operating officer for Asia-Pacific, as head of its Asia Pacific business. MacNevin replaced Lochiel Crafter, who was named head of the global institutional group with responsibility for State Street Global Advisors’ institutional distribution across the globe. In his new role, MacNevin oversees State Street Global Advisors’ business across the Asia-Pacific region. Based in Sydney, MacNevin reports directly to Crafter. He has more than 30 years of asset management industry experience. He joined State Street Global Advisors in 1994. Prior to his role as APAC chief operating officer, MacNevin served as international head of operations and technology based in London.
Financial services firm Capital Group appointed James Blair to lead its fixed income strategy in Asia-Pacific as head of fixed income investment services APAC. This was a newly created role. Blair is responsible for managing fixed income distribution within the APAC region, providing strategic advice on asset allocation to clients and implementing fixed income offerings to investors in the region. He is based in Singapore. He joined from UBS, where he led the regional fixed income specialist team and managed Australian fixed income investment strategy.
Global financial services firm Northern Trust appointed Angelo Calvitto as head of its Australasia business – comprising Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. He succeeded Madeleine Senior, who assumed a leadership role in Northern Trust’s London office. He joined Northern Trust in 2008 and was most recently head of sales for Northern Trust’s institutional business across APAC. Calvitto responsible for leading Northern Trust’s business in Australasia providing asset servicing, asset management and capital markets solutions to sophisticated institutional and investment manager clients. He reports to William Mak, head of Asia-Pacific.
