UBP Asset Management Hires Risk Officer From Harvard - Report

A veteran of Harvard University’s endowment has joined UBP Asset Management, where he will serve as the fund of hedge funds shop’s first chief risk officer of alternative investment, according to FinAlternatives.

Daniel Kelly will oversee all aspects of the firm’s global risk-management platform, as well as investment-risk management responsibilities, which have been split from the firm’s portfolio management team. Mr Kelly spent the last 17 years at Harvard Management, where he was chief risk officer for the past four years.

UBP Asset Management is part of Union Bancaire Privee, the Swiss private bank that has been hit by losses stemming from the massive Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme fraud. The affair has prompted banks, including UBP, to bolster their risk management systems and improve due diligence checks on investments.
