UK Accountancy Names Ex-KPMG Family Office Expert As New Partner

The new partner is particularly keen on acting for female founders and leaders in family-owned and managed businesses, tax policy and philanthropy.
Mercer & Hole, a UK-based firm of chartered accountants, has appointed Jo Bateson as a partner. She is returning to Mercer and Hole after having trained at the firm and worked as a tax advisor until 2005.
Bateson is a private client tax advisor. She joined KPMG in 2005 as a tax consultant, rising to partner in 2014 and leading its London family office and private client practice between 2017 and 2023.
The appointment reinforces the work M&H does in acting for entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses and wealthy individuals, and in serving female founders and leaders in family-owned and managed businesses, as well as in delivering tax policy and philanthropy.
Bateson will remain a committee member of the UK Business Angel Association and a board member of Philanthropy Impact. She is an active member of various female founder committees and a judge on the 2024 PAM Awards.
“Her experience and expertise – and standing in the private wealth and family business communities - is second to none. She will be a huge asset to the firm and its clients, and we are all looking forward to working once again with her,” Paul Maberly, managing partner at Mercer & Hole said.
Mercer & Hole has 24 partners and over 250 staff across its offices in London, Milton Keynes, St Albans and Rickmansworth.
