UK Asset Manager Makes Key Renewable Energy Hire

Aviva Investors, the asset management arm of UK based insurance firm Aviva, has appointed Ian Berry as fund manager - infrastructure and renewable energy.

Reporting to Ben Stirling, managing director of continental European real estate, Mr Berry’s role will be to oversee the development of Aviva Investors’ infrastructure capability and manage the firm’s European renewable energy fund.

He will also be involved in the management of Aviva Investors’ existing infrastructure and PFI/PPP work, the firm said in a statement.

“Infrastructure investment is a strategy that Aviva Investors is looking to further develop over the long term, and Ian will play a crucial role in laying the framework for this growth,” said Mr Stirling.

Mr Berry joins Aviva from BlueCrest Capital Management in London, where he had been an investment director responsible for identifying infrastructure-related investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

Aviva launched its renewable energy infrastructure fund in November 2008 which invests in European renewable energy assets such as geothermal and solar energy, and wind power.
