Peter Irving, co-founder and chief executive of Atlantis Investment Management, has tragically died in a boating accident. Mr Irving, who was 49, co-founded Atlantis in 1994 and managed the Atlantis Korean Smaller Companies Fund. He oversaw the business’ growth from start up to a successful 100 per cent owner-managed, Asian specialist investment company with assets under management of more than $3 billion. Mr Irving joined Schroders in 1981 from stockbrokers R. Nivison. Initially, he specialised in Japanese investment for UK pension funds and then moved on to senior responsibility for Schroders investments in Korea. At Schroders, Mr Irving built up a formidable knowledge on the Asian markets, particularly South Korea and Japan. Gerard Morrison, the chief financial officer of Atlantis has been appointed chief executive. James Cameron, who has worked with Mr Irving as deputy on the Korean Fund since joining Atlantis in 1999 will become fund advisor to the Atlantis Korean Smaller Companies Fund.
