London-based investment manager Dalton Strategic Partnership has confirmed that Mark Bunting is to join them as a private client portfolio manager. Mr Bunting joins from Cazenove Capital Management where he was a fund director. At DSP he will work with Rupert Caldecott, who joined from Cazenove in 2006. This move follows an announcement on 29 January 2007 that DSP are entering the UK pension market with £130 million ($256 million) of new assets under management. DSP has also hired Sally Macdonald as partner and fund manager of a new pan Asian fund. Ms Macdonald will manage the Melchior Selected Trust: Asian Advantage Fund, which DSP expects to launch on March 1. Previously, Ms Macdonald served as senior fund manager at Morley Fund Management, where she was responsible for the Asian equity team which managed 17 funds representing over $5 billion in assets under management. She directly managed eight of those funds. DSP has been team-building to support these moves: Frances Davies joined in June 2006 to plan the firm’s UK pension fund offering and to head up the new business. Prior to joining DSP, Ms Davies was head of the global institutional business at Gartmore. DSP has also expanded its investment capabilities: Andrew Wilson joins to manage the fixed interest and cash components of UK balanced pensions and Alexander Sen joins to strengthen DSP’s resources in asset allocation. DSP currently manages $3.7 billion ($7.27 billion) in assets.
