The latest moves, appointments and personnel changes among wealth management and related organisations in the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and select international locations

Cazenove Capital
Cazenove Capital, the wealth management business of Schroders in the UK, has appointed Hugo Ure as portfolio director in its charities team.

With almost 20 years of investment experience, Ure (pictured) brings valuable expertise to this role. He will play a key role in supporting the 30-strong charities team, collaborating closely with existing charity clients, with an emphasis on direct equity and sustainability strategies, the firm said in a statement.

During his time at Troy Asset Management, his roles included co-manager of the Trojan Income fund, manager of the Trojan Ethical Income fund and head of responsible investment. Ure started his investment career at Kleinwort Benson [now SG Kleinwort Hambros].

“We are delighted to welcome Hugo, whose calibre and experience will be a valuable addition to our strong team. This exciting hire highlights our commitment to providing excellent service to our clients and supporting the continued growth of our charities business,” Alex Baily, co-head of charities, Cazenove Capital, said.

Cazenove Capital, which has been managing assets for charities in the UK since 1936, says it is the largest investment manager of charity assets in the UK. Its "flagship" Charity Sustainable Multi-Asset Fund now manages £2.26 billion on behalf of over 450 charities. Today, Cazenove manages £12.9 billion ($16.67 billion) on behalf of over 1,700 clients.

Mourant
Mourant, a law firm-led professional services business, is pleased to announce the promotion of two new partners in the Channel Islands. Guernsey employment and data protection law specialist, Rachel Guthrie, and Sam Malpass, a member of the Jersey Finance & Corporate team, have been promoted to partner, effective 1 March 2025.

Guthrie has been with Mourant for 14 years and specialises in all areas of contentious and non-contentious employment and data protection law, advising both global and local companies.

Malpass, who joined the firm nearly a decade ago, advises many of the world’s leading financial institutions, private equity houses and corporates on a range of high value cross border transactions.

"Rachel and Sam are highly respected lawyers, with a reputation for delivering outstanding service and it is very pleasing to announce their promotion to partner,” Mourant CEO, Jonathan Rigby, said. “Their appointments are testament to the high regard in which they are held by colleagues and clients alike and will help to ensure we continue to provide the best possible support to our clients as they navigate the fast-changing legal and regulatory landscape."

The promotions follow the recent appointment of Lara Forte as a partner in Mourant’s growing Luxembourg team. Forte, who specialises in investment funds and related regulatory work, joined the firm at the end of February 2025.

Stonehage Fleming
Stonehage Fleming, an independently owned multi-family offices, has appointed Sally Fernee as group head of investment management operating function. Previously, she was group chief of staff at Lombard International, alongside her executive management and regulatory responsibility for a UK advisory entity.

During Fernee’s almost 40-year career in banking across the UK and Channel Islands, she was instrumental in developing HSBC Private Bank’s global investment offering following its formation. This included the multi-currency in-house trading platform, initial structured product offering, alternatives business and derivatives offering. She is experienced in business governance operating with local, global and offshore teams and working closely with chief executives to implement their business programmes and product propositional strategies.

Fernee will be responsible for aligning critical business processes with reliable and efficient operational platforms, playing a lead role in supporting Stonehage Fleming to enhance operational infrastructure, technology and team delivery. Based in London, she will report to Graham Wainer, CEO of Stonehage Fleming Investment Management.

“Sally has a deep knowledge of private banking and the investment needs of our client base, evident in her impressive career credentials in instrumental positions across business operations and product management,” Wainer said.

Ocorian
Ocorian has appointed Andy Bailey as head of private client business in Guernsey.

Bailey has more than 25 years of experience in financial services, encompassing broad roles across private fiduciary, corporate fiduciary and investment banking. Most recently, he worked at independent and institutional financial services businesses, where he held senior management, board, group-level positions and was the CEO of a significant single family office.

In his new role, Bailey will report to Annerien Hurter, global head of private client.
