The latest moves and appointments in wealth management in the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East and other select locations.

Fulcrum Asset Management
UK-based Fulcrum Asset Management had made two senior hires for its Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) team. Justin Simler has responsibility for commercial development and business strategy and Dan Wales is joining as a senior economist.

Simler (pictured) was previously head of multi-asset product strategy and investment specialists at abrdn. Before that he fulfilled a similar role for Ninety One, where he helped to build the foundations of multi-asset income and global macro allocation. Prior to this he was head of the product management teams for Schroders in quantitative equity products and then multi asset.

Wales joins from the International Monetary Fund. He has also been an economist at the Bank of England. He gained his PhD in economics from the University of Cambridge, where he was a Janeway post-doctoral research fellow in economics.

“Fulcrum was created with the aim of delivering innovative solutions that leverage research-based insights into the interaction of markets and macroeconomics,” Juan Antolin-Diaz, chief research officer and head of the QIS team, said. “Justin Simler and Dan Wales are two extremely high calibre individuals who will be great additions to the team.”

Founded in 2004, the firm manages £5.9 billion ($7.59 billion) on behalf of a global client base including institutions and wealth managers. Fulcrum is a signatory to the UN PRI along with a number of significant organisations across the globe which embrace sustainability as part of their core objective.
