The latest moves and appointments in wealth management in the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East and other select locations.
Fulcrum Asset Management
UK-based Fulcrum Asset
Management had made two senior hires for its Quantitative
Investment Strategies (QIS) team. Justin Simler has
responsibility for commercial development and business strategy
and Dan Wales is joining as a senior economist.
Simler (pictured) was previously head of multi-asset product strategy and investment specialists at abrdn. Before that he fulfilled a similar role for Ninety One, where he helped to build the foundations of multi-asset income and global macro allocation. Prior to this he was head of the product management teams for Schroders in quantitative equity products and then multi asset.
Wales joins from the International Monetary Fund. He has also been an economist at the Bank of England. He gained his PhD in economics from the University of Cambridge, where he was a Janeway post-doctoral research fellow in economics.
“Fulcrum was created with the aim of delivering innovative solutions that leverage research-based insights into the interaction of markets and macroeconomics,” Juan Antolin-Diaz, chief research officer and head of the QIS team, said. “Justin Simler and Dan Wales are two extremely high calibre individuals who will be great additions to the team.”
Founded in 2004, the firm manages £5.9 billion ($7.59 billion) on behalf of a global client base including institutions and wealth managers. Fulcrum is a signatory to the UN PRI along with a number of significant organisations across the globe which embrace sustainability as part of their core objective.
Dynamic Planner
Dynamic
Planner, a UK financial planning business, has made hires
into its “customer success” and marketing teams.
The joiners: Will Dunwell, marketing director, brings more than
20 years of experience in scaling SaaS businesses; James O’Gara,
customer success director, has spent five years at Morningstar;
and Neil Andrews, customer success manager, has joined
following eight years at Intelliflo.
Wealth Club
Wealth Club, the
Bristol-based online investment platform for high net worth and
sophisticated investors, has appointed Isaac Stell as an
investment manager.
Stell will join the investment research team headed by Jonathan
Moyes. The team is responsible for the management of the Wealth
Club Portfolio Service, an online investment portfolio which was
launched in February 2024.
Before this, Stell worked as a fund research manager for
Parmenion Capital Partners.
Canaccord Genuity
Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management UK and Crown Dependencies
has appointed senior investment director, Lorraine Armstrong, to
join its Newcastle office.
Armstrong brings 25 years’ experience in the industry to the
role. Previously she had worked at Brewin Dolphin since
1998, most recently as a divisional director.
This announcement follows the recent appointments of investment
director, Roger Sedgwick joining in Birmingham and senior wealth
planner, Samantha Gibson joining the Newcastle office.
Cavenwell
Cavenwell
Group, a fiduciary services provider headquartered in Dubai,
has appointed Allan Wood as a strategic advisor.
Cavenwell specialises in global wealth structuring for international clients. His career spans more than 30 years, with a background as an entrepreneur, business developer, company director and charity chair, Cavenwell said.
Most recently, Wood was global head of market development for Jersey Finance – and this news service interviewed him here. He oversaw the promotion of Jersey’s financial services sector across key strategic markets, including the Middle East, Africa, Asia, the US, the UK, and Europe.
Cavenwell specialises in global wealth structuring for entrepreneurs, UHNW individuals and their families.
